Dark black color with a smallish head. Aroma is moderately strong malts with some roastedness. Flavor is much the same, lots of black patent malt, some chalkiness, a toch of bitterness in the finish, thin, zero complexity, moderately roasted, not bad but boring.

new phx location. nearly black pour with brown at the edges. a fluffy off white head leaves literal spotty lacing. aromas of light lagering, near metallic maltiness, wood, some chocolate and coffee. the flavor’s the same... kinda plain. some roasty dryness and noble hop flavors stand out before the light bitter finish. medium to full bodied for the style and rather creamy.

Draught sample from New Orleans location. Light roasted burnt-bitter aroma. Coffee, chicory, mild chocolate. Dark brown-black clear with little off-white head. medium body with medium carbonation. Dry overall with roasted malt, mild bitter nutty character. Medium acidity. Dry coffee bitter after.

On tap at Tempe Location. Dark brown. Very faint aroma of caramel, and toasted coffee beans. Light taste of Caramel, Coffee and a little chocolate. Way too watery for my liking, but might be refreshing on a hot day.

On tap at GB KC. The body was very dark brown. The aroma was roasted coffee with some light caramel. The taste was roasted coffee and caramel. Again, another GB beer with a nice clean finish. Probably the best I had while at GB in KC.

one of the better gordon biersch offerings, which isn’t saying much. it’s pretty smoky and burnt and very dry, but it was the best of what was on tap at the palo alto GB

On tap at the San Diego location. A dark brown beer with a hint of chocolate/coffee aroma. Flavors were clean, dry with a little roast chocolate character. Well balanced and easy drinking.
