Numenor (817), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 5, 2008 At the brewpub in D.C. Deep red, almsot brown body with a white head. Light smoke aroma with some hint of honey and roasted malts. Sweet and dry taste with a hint of light grass. Ending is somewhat bland and dry.
ratman197 (2260), Arvada, Colorado, USA Aug 24, 2008 On tap @ Gordon Biersch Flatirons poured a clear dark brown with a lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, toffee, light smoke, light carmel and a hint of licorice. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, camel, lighjt fruittiness and light smoke with a smooth bittersweet finish. nbutler11 (132), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 15, 2008 Poured a coffee color with a trim tan head from the tap in Tempe. Very toasted aroma and flavor. Sicky body with mild carbonation and faint traces of cocoa. A bit dry, but easily the best GB beer I’ve had. dwyerpg (2042), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Aug 7, 2008 Quite roasty aroma. This definitely is the most complex of the beers I’ve had from these guys. Roasty and a bit heavier; not amazing but good. Still light enough to have a few. boto (1208), Granby, Connecticut, USA Aug 6, 2008 Draught @ Washington, DC location: This one pours an opaque brown color. There was a tight, off-white head on it that didn’t last too long but left some lacing. There were some roasted and caramel malts to the nose. It also had some earthy hop notes. The taste was along similar lines to the aroma, and was nicely balanced. Some roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, but no real sweetness. Earthiness and a touch of biscuit also. Perhaps a little nutty also. Nice. yespr (6259), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 From tap in Pasadena. Pours dark brown with a redish glare and a lacing white head. Solid roasted malt and liqourice hops aroma, very inviting. Dry, roasted and liqourice flavour in a tasty and smooth mix. Lovely.
