Beershine (1059), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 12, 2008 Draught, Miami. Deep dark brown with inch-thick even foam. Smells like toasted grain husks, tree bark. Malty body includes lots of apples. Not bad; the only clean pour of the night unfortunately.
beerbobWFM (17), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jul 17, 2008 not a bad representation of the style, not the best I have had either. I had iton Tap at Las Vegas location. Arona was good -coffee, slight chocolate, mildly smokey. Color was a nice dark chocolate brown with a good tan colored head. The flavor was ok, coffee and bitter chocolate domintated with a nice creaminess, with hints of toast and tobacco, fairly typical for the style. Over all it was quite drinkable, but pretty much an average schwarbier on the whole Sammy (2959), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 3, 2008 A surprisingly good one, enjoyed at the Washington DC outlet. A bit of carbonation, and chocolate malt. Light browncolour with a white head. Creamy, drying finish. Abit of sourness. It all worked and was very drinkable, despite having a few other beers that day, though none that burned the palate. Perhaps Jason tinkered it well, his last day cheers! puzzl (1627), New York, New York, USA Jun 19, 2008 Tap at the DC brewpub. Mild smoke and caramel aroma. Light tobacco and roast flavor. Vegetal, thin, dull. Light banana. Phenolic. JoeMcPhee (3628), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 14, 2008 Tap at the DC location. Dark black beer, thick brown head. Aroma is quite nice and molasses-laden. Earthy herbal chocolate with a soft roasty toastiness. Herbal and a little bit toasty. Softly lagered malts and a nice roasty dryness. Pretty nice schwartz. Oakes (6784), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 11, 2008 Dark brown. Very toasty nose with hints of roast and nutty complexity. A little bit watery and thin. The roast is cheap coffee with chocolate overtones.
