Draft at the Pasadena location. A light golden beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of straw as well as a light touch of citrus. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of straw and citrus, leading to a dry finish where the straw note lingers around.

[Had this as Summerfest at the DC location] A hazy orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is very lightly malty with hints of wheat. The flavor is crisply sweet malty with good hop notes that gives the beer both citrusy notes as well as a bitter finish, that balances the sweetness nicely.

From tap in Pasadena and as Summerbrau (kölsch) in San Francisco. Pours clear and yellow with a lacing white head. Light acidic and mild cornish aroma. Flavour is delicate hoppy and with a mild caramel base flavour. Light spiced and hoppy fruity to bitter into the finish.

They called this one Sommergold. Golden colour. Not much head. Aroma is fruity, berryish. Grainy character, low bitterness. HInts of fruitiness. Off-dry. Pretty bland.

Light blond color. Very light Lager, with a sweetish flavor and low bitterness. Too simple.

Draft at the new Rockville, MD location, in a tall fluted pils glass. Nose was actually pretty disgusting, smelling like egg salad, DMS, a hint of urine (literally) and fluffed, slightly fruity egg whites. Flavor thankfully isn’t as bad, but isn’t stellar either. Lightly crisp, mostly fizzy, simple sweet grain flavor with a sour (slight) egg presence. This one needs work, and a lot of it.

Judging by the other raters’ comments, this is known as Sommerfest everywhere but on this page. It has a bright yellow body with some lazy bubbling and a creamy white head. Nice lacing. It has a sweet fresh bread aroma coupled with a mild grassy bitterness. This continues into the flavor, although the hoppy bitterness grows a little. crisp finish. A decent warm weather beer.

Draft @ Gordon Biersch downtown DC next to the Spy Museum Called the Sommerfest beer...Golden, light head and good lacing. Nose of light malt, some caramelly notes and a touch of hops. Moderate bitterness. The flavor is ho-hum, definately a summer beer. It’s dang hot and I’m drenched, and I still want a beer with more flavor than this.
