Commercial Description:
A spezial delight. The strong, full-bodied Gösser Spezial is a delight for lovers of rich beers. This is a beer with style and a nutty, hop fragrance that is both refreshing and concentrated on the palate. An elegant hop aroma and delicate bitter tang accompany the enjoyment of this bottom-fermented beer, which demonstrates remarkable head stability. Gösser Spezial was drunk to celebrate the signing of the Austrian state treaty.

Bottle, 5.1%. Mild grainy aroma. Clear golden colour. Small white head. The flavour starts off clean, but turns grainy. Not much to say, quite standard lager.

Average pale golden color with average frothy head. Dense malty aroma with a hint of hop. Sweet, fruity initial flavor with cherries or plums maybe. (I tasted after a bohemian pilsner :) Short metallic alcohol feel in the finish. Medium bodied lager with average carbonation.

Draught, Cactus Bar, Budapest. Standard golden lager looks. Some sweetness there in the aroma and flavour which made this a bit more palatable than I thought it would me. Wasn’t expecting too much, but its just about drinkable I suppose. Certainly in no way ’spezial’

0.5 l bottle from Spar in Semriach, as the last I brought from my New Year holidays there. Poured pale golden body with medium head (as almost all beers we had that night). Pretty nice aroma, some herbal hops with same honeyish maltiness. Flavor was not so nice, but still fine, sweetish with subdued bitterness. Oily on palate, pretty full bodied. Honey finish, maybe too sweet. It can’t be called "special", not bad, but still misses its originality and some more interesting character.

GÖSSER SPEZIAL (5.7%), AUSTRIA
Bottle courtesy of and shared with heavy (thanks!)
Poured a light golden body with a medium sized thick white head. Honeyish nose, a touch herbal. Nice piney hopiness, light maltiness. A surprisingly pleasant pils, more than likely the best one today and yet I’m at a loss of words (and notes) for it. Ah, well. Gösser can do some nice stuff when they want to it seems. 6/3/7/3/13

GÖSSER SPEZIAL (5.1%), HUNGARY
Poured a very pale yellow/gold body witha a small white head that went away relatively slow. Light nose, dusty and herbal, slightly acidic, not really impressive. The taste is light as well, but nice, sweet graininess, flowery hopiness. One dimensional, but, like the Austrian version, quite tasty. 5/2/6/3/12

This beer hasn’t got a big aroma. Nice pale yellow color, small head. The flavour is bitter with yeast and flowers. The aftertaste is thin. I’ve bought a beer wich was brewed in Hungary by Heineken Hungária Nyrt (Soproni Brewery). Good, drinkable beer without any surprise...
