Commercial Description:
The bottom fermented, dark Gösser Stiftsbräu is brewed according to old, inherited traditions. With a smoky, roasted nose and a thick and creamy taste on the palate, Stiftsbräu is a sophisticated delight for lovers of a slightly sweet, dark beer. The overall impression that Stiftsbräu creates is one of great harmony and well roundedness.

A very good dark beer, quite sweet, but easy drinking. A bit of a dark chocolate aftertaste. I’d drink again for sure.

Far better than I expected. This beer as a great palate. It is very thick and heavy. There is significant smoke in the aroma, and malt in the flavor with roast beef. Almost black, with a thick head. A great dunkel. Draught.

Clear dark reddish brown body with a nice head. Aroma is dominated by malt, a bready feel. Chocolate and caramel come through in the flavor for an enjoyable and simple beer. Very little bitterness.

This is a great dunkel. Very rich in flavor, but not overpowering. Very flavorful for a not so high alcohol beer.

Bottle at Global, Ljubljana. Less impressive than the Lasko Temno. This is pretty light and fizzy, with a big gulp of caramel sweetness. Drinkable, but needed more strength of flavour.

Taste of chernosliv (dried prunes with sugar), bitter chocolate and roasty nuts. Some sweetness from the malt (caramel?). A rainy night beer.

Pretty dark brown with a nice light tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate. Initial flavor reminiscent of the old Baskin Robins fudge in their fudge swirl ice cream. As it warmed, the chocolate flavors became a bit more muted, and a faintly sour note emerged along with cola notes. Not a bad dunkel.
