Commercial Description:
The bottom fermented, dark Gösser Stiftsbräu is brewed according to old, inherited traditions. With a smoky, roasted nose and a thick and creamy taste on the palate, Stiftsbräu is a sophisticated delight for lovers of a slightly sweet, dark beer. The overall impression that Stiftsbräu creates is one of great harmony and well roundedness.

Brown color, earthy aroma. Like a roasty lager, with a smoothness to it, Not bad at all, but not a preferred style. I keep wishing it were deeper bodied.

Draught version tried at the Brewery tap A Brown beer with little head retention, aroma of caramel. A solid flavour of chocolate malt and caramel with light hopping. The taste does linger but is not a complex one. The bottled version is slightly sweeter but with a pronounced CO2 bite.

Aroma light roasted and dirt. Brown color, light brown head, good lace. Light sweet, grass, light roasted, light licorice, thin but still a little sticky. Not bad at all but it has this earthy aroma and flavor in the background which I didn’t like.

Had in Bottle. Not overly impressed. Had at O.C. Little Malt and Carmel. Not the worst.

Hoppy and mocha nose. Cola coloured and perfectly clear with a tiny head. Sweet mocha and malty flavours that get become quite dry in the aftertaste.

Pleasant light hop and malt aroma. tastes of deeply roasted barley malt, but for those who do not like a dry beer, this is not a good choice. Only fair head retention.

Brewed under contract. I'm not sure if this beer was supposed to be a copy of a rauchbier, bur it did a pretty good job of it! A reddy-brown colour with a pronounced kippersmoke nose. More smoke in the flavour, joined by sweet roast nuts and toast, then a smokey, complex finish. Unusual and well flavoured, but I can't help wondering if it was intentional? surely not.... (Bottle from shop, Ljubljana station)

Brown color with a bone colored moderate head. Smells like toasted whole wheat bread and mild coffee (not just for breakfast). Lightly roasted sweet nut flavor. Smooth body. If anything would like a bit more roasted malt to offset the sweetness. A mid echelon dunkel.
