Commercial Description:
The bottom fermented, dark Gösser Stiftsbräu is brewed according to old, inherited traditions. With a smoky, roasted nose and a thick and creamy taste on the palate, Stiftsbräu is a sophisticated delight for lovers of a slightly sweet, dark beer. The overall impression that Stiftsbräu creates is one of great harmony and well roundedness.

Tasted like a typical German dunkel. My only complaint was that it seemed rather flat. Kind of a dull beer - nothing interesting, just drinkable, nothing more.

My bottle says 4.5%? Poured slightly hazy dark brown with a small short lasted tan head. Aroma of sweet malt and roast grain. Smooth thin-medium mouthfeel. Flavour is rather bland, just nice sweet malt with a roast finish. Not bad stuff. Not great either.

Big tan head. Deep copper red. Light palate, carbonation not evident, smooth but quickly gone. Quite a flat caramel malt. Very mild bitterness kicks in some time after swallowed. This is nice. Also very cheap for an import ($2.59 Dan Murphy's Hornsby). The kind of beer you would want to have a case sitting around for an impromptu drinking demonstration with friends.

Garnet color with frothy tan head. Malty, bready, slight coffee aroma. Flavor had some sweetness and body to it. Very good.

on Tap- A nice dunkel, nothing over the top, but a really nice malt backbone. The hops are muted, as they should be, but seem to come through at the end. Very quaffable with food as it does not weigh you down. I am surprised that this is not rated slightly higher. I had the draught version and all was pleasing !

Dark brown coloured body with a soapy tan head. Aroma of malt, slight grapes, raisins and some metal. Medium to Light-bodied; Sweet flavour with some malt present, some caramel and a bit of some raisin sweetness. Very light and subdued aftertaste-almost nothing there! Overall, a sub-par beer and one that really should be overlooked! I bought this twelve ounce bottle (Best by 01.2005) at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it on 07.December.2003.

(Bottle) Pours a dark brown with amber highlights and a medium beige head. Good rich flavor with hints of carmel and toffee.
