Dark brown beer with a brief off white head. Nose of warm roasted nutty caramel malts. Flavour of smoky nutty caramel malts. Some coffee in there as well. Finish is sweet and malty. Smooth and easy going. Not too far from a warm English real ale though some may find it too sweet. estpiwo (501), Estonia

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Bottle (in NZ), pours a cola-ish brown with a large pillowy white head. Uninspiring grainy malt nose with a touch sweetness. More caramal malt on the palate, with a touch of roastedness. Pleasant enough, but a little sweet for me. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2008 A nice aroma of full dark malts and some nice adjuncts of perhaps some caramel. It’s appearance is dark brown, with a thin white head. It’s full in flavor with a nice malty taste, very dark roasted malts. The beer is very smooth, but a bit filling. A great Austrian 1st.
