Commercial Description:
The bottom fermented, dark Gösser Stiftsbräu is brewed according to old, inherited traditions. With a smoky, roasted nose and a thick and creamy taste on the palate, Stiftsbräu is a sophisticated delight for lovers of a slightly sweet, dark beer. The overall impression that Stiftsbräu creates is one of great harmony and well roundedness.

500ml bottle.
Dark brown, slightly fizzy but no real head. Sweet chocolatey aroma. Fizzy in the mouth. The chocolate and sweetness carry over into the taste. Slightly watery and sweet. Slight blue cheese at the start of each mouthful . Nice burnt element, but could have been a lot better if brewed to a less kvassy strength. (5-3-7-2-10=2.7)

Dark red, small head. Dry husky grainy aroma. Very dry palate. Simple dark lager - drinkable, but too drying to be a thirst quencher. Mostly malt, bugger all hops.

Bottle Dark brown in colour with a red tinge. Aroma is malty with chocolate and caramel detected. Some mild fruit, malt and chocolate in the taste but I found it to be drinkable but rather thin bodied. Not bad but not great either.

12oz bottle: aroma was almost nonexistent from what i could smell wasnt all that great but not bad with a hint of chocolate, appearance was a very dark brown and didnt shed much light through but wasnt murky at all. flavor pretty good kind of like a light version of a stout. very balanced not too sweet but not too bitter with hints of chocolate. very solid beer.

Bottle. Sweet dark aroma of roasted malt. Dark amber color with a significant beige/tan head. Thin to medium body with creamy carbonation. Starts with sweet roasted caramel, has just a hint of smokiness, somewhat nutty. It’s sweet, but a sour note creeps out. The finish is caramel, and there is only the slightest amount of bitter. It’s clean. Somehow there is a long result that’s tending to dryness, but then the malt comes back. Pretty good.

330 ml bottle. Skunky aroma. Dark beer. Clear brown color. No foam and low carbonation. This is a very different mixture than what I’m used to. Skunky taste/dark beer. I thought it was interesting but not really for me.

Corpo molto acquoso, frizzantezza ridotta; discreta :)
