Dark ruby, creamy tanned head, lace. Roasted, slightly caramelly and skunked hoppy aroma. Roasted, oaky malts. Toffee flavors with grassy hops. Oily, slightly bitter aftertaste. Quite sweet for a dunkel, maybe more vienna-like. bierkoning (6094), La Tropica, Netherlands

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Dec 13, 2007 Bottle… Clear burnt amber lager with orange highlights and a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The sweet aroma is a bit chocolaty and caramelized with good roasted, smoky notes and a light whiff of skunk. The flavor is well-roasted with subtle chocolate, smoke and coffee essences, but leans way over onto the sweet side of balance… only a rumor of anything resembling lupulin. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, chocolaty, cloyingly sweet finish.
