aconley (9), Numazu, Japan does not count Jun 11, 2008 This is an average Belgium Beer in my opinion. It represents the style well and is fairly well balanced for a beer of 8.5%. A little too sweet for my taste and not as complex as other Belgium Beers. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jun 8, 2008 Dark amber with thin white head. Aroma of sweet malts, caramel, brown sugar and fruit. Taste is sweet and fruity with brown sugar mixed in. Solid Belgian beer. soyorganic (217), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 7, 2008 Bottle: pours dark brown color and has a head that retains. Nice aroma consisting of prunes and red wine. Very smooth and thick beer. Has a wonderful sweet flavor reminiscent of dry molasses and prune juice. The sweet flavor is balanced by hops that make it slightly bitter, but the sweet flavor wins out. canary dog (441), Rutland, Vermont, USA Jun 5, 2008 A good, solid Belgian beer-- although not as good as most Trappistes. I don’t remember what I wanted to say about it exactly, since I had it several evenings ago. I remember liking it, but nothing too great. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada May 31, 2008 330 ml bottle from a trade with hogtownharry. pours deep maroon with a small tan head that fades quickly. big dark fruit aromas with yeast and a touch of cheese. flavours are all raison and fig. some yeast crosses the palate but the complex fruit display is far more noticable as the brew warms and diminishes all other flavours. darn good stuff. thanks harry! Pyobon (266), Sydney, Australia May 28, 2008 Bottle. Poured dark red brown with a slight beige head. Great aroma with malt, fruits (pears / bananas) and some smokiness. Full bodied, even sticky; well carbonated. The flavour is bold; predominantly dark malt / toffee with fruity / estery flavours, sweetness and bitterness. There is a very long finish primarily of pleasant bitterness and esters / banana / fruit. It is a very well balanced and enjoyable beer. Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle from Party Sorce. Poured brown color with an average light brown fizzy head that lasted with good lacing. Complex dark fruit, caramel and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Full complex dark sweet flavor with solid bittersweet finish and a small bite of alcohol. Good standout brew. VitaminR (421), Colorado, USA May 23, 2008 Caramel toffee, vinous fruit notes, almost a hint of chocolate? Deep brown/amber, nice head and lacing. Rich complex raisiny, smoky toffee sweetness, slightly tart, mild hops. Full, creamy body, nice smooth , long finish, with the alcohol burning and peaking at the end. A fantastic beer!
