lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA Mar 21, 2008 Pours dark amber with fairly thick off-white head. Nice sweet aroma with plenty of banana, dark fruit, toffee, and spicy notes. Flavor is lighter than expected; I figured that I’d be blown away based on the aroma, but I’m tasting a really well balanced beer. Sweet but not too sweet, with notes of dried fruit, caramel, yeast, and vinous notes. Nice smooth body. Very nice beer. gnoff (3559), Göteborg, Sweden Mar 12, 2008 (33 cl bottle at 3 Smĺr Rum, Göteborg) On March 12, 2008. BB 2010. Clear dark reddish brown color, medium size tan head. Sweet, phenolic, fruity and alcohol scent. Also medicinal and spicy. Spicy, yeasty sweet taste with a surpisingly light aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness. Alcohol in the taste is rather well hidden. Some metallic hints in taste and aftertaste. masto (77), Helsinki, Finland Mar 11, 2008 Bottle. Very sweet yeasty aroma reminds me of wheat beer. Deep reddish brown with huge, almost white head. Very sweet caramel malt and dried fruit flavor with notes of berries. Peppery sweet aftertaste. Awesome foamy palate. Wayyyy too sweet for me to be a real treat. Well done nevertheless. smith4498 (820), Miami, Florida, USA Mar 9, 2008 Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aromas of raisins, figs, candy sugar and licorice. Taste is sweet and malty. Creamy mouthfeel and mild carbonation make this real easy to drink. One of my favorite beers from what is becoming one of my favorite Belgian breweries. The more I drink their beers the more I love them. 184601 (143), Mexicali, Mexico Mar 8, 2008 At first, i was esceptical, but this beer its quite good, purchased at Mexicali Wal-Mart.Right on, the look its somewhere between red amber and brown, the head its a long-lasting one with beige color, the flavor its very alcoholic strong, the palate its somewhat sweet, quite malty.I recommend it. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Mar 1, 2008 Hazy brown pour. Average sized vanilla colored head. Aroma of toffee & banana. Tastes very similar to the smell. Not as carbonated as many in this style. An enjoyable brew that is simple and straight forward. jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 27, 2008
Sampled at Delirium Café: Poured dark brown with a big head that left tremendous lacing on the glass. Aroma is of dried fruits, and cereal malts. The flavor is confusing because it drinks much more like a golden ale than a brown ale. Lots of pilsner malt flavor, and a nice hop balance, medium-dry. Mouth feel was nice and full of tiny bubbles. Different than other strong brown Belgian ales, but good.
corby112 (671), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 26, 2008 Pours a dark purplish brown with a foamy beige head. Wonderful aroma of chocolate, raisin, plum, grape, toffee, fig, and spice. Extremely smooth drinking because of the excellent balance of sweetness, spice and chocolate maltiness. One of my favorite beers.
