Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Feb 3, 2008 July 2006 - Label was Carolus D’Or. Really sweet strong aroma. Nice fluffy head with some lace. Flavor was good, not great. Very sweet from dark fruit (raisins?). Caramel emerged as it warmed. A bit thin in the mouthfeel. hellbilly (1492), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Feb 2, 2008 cloudy mahogany pour topped with a fluffy tan head which leaves lots of pillowy lacing. the aroma is similar to an oxidized sherry... sweet with raisins, wood, vanilla, caramel and a sourness. the flavor has vinous qualities as well... raisins, wood and vanilla. it finishes dry and yeasty with an aftertaste of skunky hops? medium to full bodied with a creamy texture and smooth mouth feel. it’s a bit on the sweet side but some age will fix that... Ober (1158), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Jan 24, 2008 A dark beer of 8,5 %. Very malty aroma with a lot of caramel and banana. A beer with a complex taste. The flavor sticks in your mouth. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Jan 20, 2008 Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aroma of dark fruit and plenty of yeast. Flavor matches aroma, but adds some roasted malt. Light alcohol presence on finish. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 19, 2008 Bottle.
Pours a dark mahogany-red body with a long lasting, large, frothy, eggshell-coloured head. The aroma is very rich and malty with notes of berries, plums, chocolate, and burnt caramel. There are some dusty chocolate and burnt malt flavours with a hefty dose of dark fruitiness. Alcohol muscles its way through at the right time. Complex and very well done. Adenila (931), Denmark Jan 18, 2008 Dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma is dominated by fruity and yeasty notes, lots of it. Flavor is sweet of dark fruits with some roasted notes and only a sleightly bitter aftertaste PC (1), USA does not count Jan 13, 2008 I tried this belgian ale for the first time tonite. I thought it was excellent. To me, it smelled like flowers and it tasted like honey. I am sincerely grateful to my brother for sharing a bottle with me.
