Commercial Description:
Het Anker Brewery still brews "The Emperor’s Beer" which is top-fermented and bottle conditioned following traditional methods. Its high gravity (O.G. 1080-85) combines the warmth of wine and the freshness of beer. Gouden Carolus is one of the strongest and most exciting beers in the world. After lengthy maturing and conditioning, it is bottled unfiltered, giving a beer which is rich in vitamins and 100% natural. Gouden Carolus has unlimited storage (it even improves with age) and will charm you with its warm coppery colour and rich bouquet.

Dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma is dominated by fruity and yeasty notes, lots of it. Flavor is sweet of dark fruits with some roasted notes and only a sleightly bitter aftertaste

I tried this belgian ale for the first time tonite. I thought it was excellent. To me, it smelled like flowers and it tasted like honey. I am sincerely grateful to my brother for sharing a bottle with me.

Has a mildly sugary aroma, some what like cola, belive it or not. Has the look of very light iced tea. Barely any carbonation. Odd old farm barrel initial taste but not like a lambic. Reminds me of the old country. Unique but alky is present without a doubt. A little rude and different to say the least. Difficult to swallow at times.

Clear brown with medium off white head. Sweet malty aroma with overripe fruits and yeast. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, toffee, fruits and yeast. Alcohol well hidden. Ends sweet.

Got a cold so my usual rubbish sense of smell is ecen worse. Shame as this is really nice. Delicous. Slight alcohol flavour present but very sweet and lovely. Like Fearne Cotton. Just like the beer though, an obvious dark side. 8 4 8 4 16

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a brownish amber with a medium and fading tan head and a thin aroma of sweetness and fruits. Flavor is nice caramel sweet and after that gets a little bit sour. Finish is hoppy and sweet, but not groundbreaking. Just fine, not spectacular

Pours a brownish-amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of raisons, caramel, slight candied sugar, yeast, banana, slight alcochol, and some citrus hops. Flavor is strong of raisons, figs, caramel, and banana up front with a dry finish of banana, yeast, and a little alcohol warming. Truely a delicious beer.
