Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium Jan 17, 2007 Bottle 33 cl. Aroma: caramel and slightly alcohol. Brown colour, small, light brown, head. Caramel flavour with some spiciness. Medium-body. Taste is sweet-bitter. jrod0510 (1), The Burgh, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jan 16, 2007 This has a very rich flavor and aroma, I don’t know much about belgium beers or beers in general but this is one of the best beers I have ever tasted bp (451), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 12, 2007 Bottle purchased at Whole Foods NYC: pours a nice dark reddish brown, strong aroma of raisins and figs, kind of a burnt caramel taste. A nice Belgian. Nightfall (645), Athens, Greece Jan 12, 2007 Bottle. Chestnut brown color, rich brown head. Dark fruits, yeast, some chocolate. Nice beer. Miksu (2187), Jyväskylä, Finland Jan 10, 2007 0.75 l bottle. Reddish brown color with creamy tan head. Malty and fruity aroma with raisins, figs, chocolade, almonds and rum. Sweet flavor with tart fruitiness and rum. Long, tart, sweet and warming finish with notes of licorice. thornecb (1735), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Jan 9, 2007 Pours deep mahogany into a trappist glass. Micro head stays steady on the surface. Plum, pear, cabernet and alcohol aromas. Creamy with upfront prune and raisin and a lasting caramel cherry flambe finish. Fin (3376), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jan 9, 2007 Bottle in a mixed pack for Christmas. Pours dark brown with a large creamy head, some dried fruits on the nose with wafts of alcohol and sweetness. Taste is gloriously smooth with dried fruits and a continuing molasses sweetness and quite sticky. I will add that as much as I liked this it didn’t quite measure up to being as good as the sum of it’s parts had promised. Still a very good beer. jrob21 (1250), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 7, 2007 Nice amber color with a big tan head. Aromas of yeast and wheat. Nutmeg and hop flavors. Slight caramel tastes as well. Very interesting and good belgian beer.
