Jan 1, 2007 Dark amber with a small, but staying head. Aroma has lots of sweet fruits - some plums. Some sherry-like tones as well. Lightly vinious. Taste has lots of caramel and dried fruits.

Dec 31, 2006 Pours a nice semi dark hazy brown with a medium layer of froathy offwhite head. Aroma is brown sugar, oak, raisins, and spices. Absolutely delicious. Flavor is sweet, brown sugar, and slightly burbony. Overall, very very enjoyable.

Dec 24, 2006 Bottle, strong sweet malt aroma with hints of dried fruit. Good bubbly head with cola dark reddish brown color, semi- transparent. Flavor is sweet balanced with a light dryness. Woody, raisny, strong malt flavor. Seems like it will be too dry but then balances out well on the finish. Good carbonation. Very drinkable. Very good overall.

Dec 21, 2006 Intense bubblegum aroma that mixes well with rich malty, bready notes. Flavor is bubblegum, caramel, and some bread and dark fruit. Mouthfeel is nearly syrupy, but not unpleasant. Huge flavors and aromas with no significant detractors.

Dec 20, 2006 Bottle.Dark brown with a offwhite froth. Licorice, spices, caramel aroma. Delicious and balanced licorice caramel flavours, semidry throughout. Good mouthfeel, full body. A Belgian classic that never disappoints.

Dec 18, 2006 I will definitely have to give this another go. I wanted to give it higher reviews but in the end I didn’t feel it was justified. A cloudy light brown color with an aroma of caramelized sugar and malts. Flavors were sweet with caramel, molasses and brown sugar. Finish was a little harsh. Good, but I will see if these ratings hold up with another bottle.

Dec 2, 2006 Aroma of chocolate cake, toffee and liqurice. Hazy red/brown colour with a thick head. Very sweet and fulfilling taste, long finish which is both sweet and bitter. Excellent!

Nov 30, 2006 Deep brown color with amber and slightly purple highlights. Thick, sticky tan head of tiny microbubbles. Delicious aroma of dark brown sugar, dried fruits (dates, raisins), sweet malts, caramel, licorice, and some faint spiciness. Equally delicious, intense, somewhat acidic flavors of dried fruits (dates, raisins, apples), dark caramelized sugars, spices (coriander, nutmeg, anise), cocoa, toffee, and a slight hint of warming alcohol, and a nearly imperceptible amount of hops. Smooth, rich body with a touch of prickly carbonation on the tongue. Nicely sticky and velvety, but not overbearing--finishes crisp and clean, a bit dry from the hops. An amazing beer.
