Apr 7, 2006 Bottled. Cloudy ruby colour with offwhite mediumsized head. Plum, sweet caramel in aroma. Flavour is plummy, fruity and a bit wheaty. Also raisins in the flavour. Sweet sugary aftertaste.

Apr 5, 2006 2002 bottle from Bottleworks. Nice dark red color with medium head. Incredible malty aroma, lots of caramel & banana. Very tasty beer....deep, deep malt taste. Tastes of maple syrup and some slight hops coming through. Very carbonated with a thick texture. Leaves an impression on your tongue for a while.

Apr 5, 2006 Tried this the other night. It reminds of a rodenbach or a duchuos duborgois. A belgian red ale with a nice malty charecter. Sweeter then it is tart, yet subtle and very nice to drink.

Apr 3, 2006 A light beige head tops off a reddish brown body. The nose is malty, some berries, dried fruit, hops. Soft carbonation, medium body, slightly watery. Flavor was a bit coarse and unpleasant.

Apr 1, 2006 Pours honey brown with sweet french toast on the nose. Full nectar with minimal froth yet ample residual effers. Tastes like grandma’s french toast smothered in maple syrup and fresh berries. Well ballanced. Alcohol is well hidden. Long semi sweet finish. Tastey.

Mar 31, 2006 Good oak colored body with a medium volume light tan head. Coffee, malts, and tea accents are most present in the aroma. Great taste, caramel, toffee, light malts.... this is somewhat similar to the Westy 12. Light alcohol burn in the ending, though it’s mostly sweet.

Mar 31, 2006 Cleare dark cherry color with a medium creamy off-white head. Aroma of spice and sweet malt. Sweet spiced flavor some hints of fruit.

Mar 31, 2006 Looks nice in the glass, an orange-brown color, wit a medium pitted, wispy head. Curious aroma, hints at caramel, bread dough, nuts, plums, coconut, nutmeg and/or thyme. Big fluffy sweetness up front, coupled with a palate-stinger from the alcohol and moderate high effervescence. Finish is very smooth and light, but with some alcohol...as Belgians go, it doesn’t mask the alcohol as well as the best, but it’s still a pleasing finish. Warming in the chest. Really feels like a cold weather beer, not terribly appropriate on this warm spring night, not that I’m enjoying it any less. Very even tempered, without being overly complex, but still possesses alot of the rich qualities you want in a strong Belgian. Perhaps approaches some of the famous strong trappistes, but definitely rougher. Made a nice match with strong roquefort cheese.
