blankboy (3157), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 7, 2005 Bottle shared with tupalev. Pours a murky reddish-brown with a spare off-white head. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar, fruit and alcohol. Nice rich flavour of caramel malt -- it’s delicious. Surprisingly smooth for an 8% beer. Excellent! joshuah (37), Ferndale, Michigan, USA Dec 4, 2005 Draft @ Woodward Ave Brewery. Nice brown color, small white head. Very complex nose. Picked up fruity mixed with bubblegum. Taste is very complex, and with a peppermint finish. Even with the high alchohol which I normally don’t like, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Really liked it. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 3, 2005 Bottle courtesy of and shared with Blankboy. Dark brown, thin tan head. Strong sweet aroma. Strong sweet taste. A little stale in the aftertaste. Wonderfully strong sweet Belgian Ale that had more in common with a recent Fuller’s Vintage than the classic strong Belgian Ale taste in my opinion. Just a little staleness kept it from achieving greatness. ruffian (149), montvale, New Jersey, USA Dec 2, 2005 Big beige head, dark brown with maybe a slight red hue. Aroma of alcohol albeit somewhat subdued. It seems like there is some fruit to be picked up but the alcohols takes it out, might in part be due tothe fact that it is being served at about 60. IT has a big sweet flavor that crawls across your tongue. Very smooth and well balanced. I’m not posittive of the vintage. I’ve had the bottle for about a year. The alcohols in the aroma are a detraction to me, however I certainly would try it again served a touch cooler. SuIIy (1406), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Dec 2, 2005 Draft @ Woodward Ave Brewery in Ferndale. Pours a speckled brown color with a foamy off white head. Nose is estery, light bubblegum, bananas, dark fruits, light yeast. Taste is doughy, some sweetness, toffee, banana, and an alcohol warming finishes it up. Some light peppermint is even noticed throughout. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Nov 30, 2005 Pitch brown color with a finger’s worth of foam floating on top. Nice aroma of plums and cherries. Strong sweet malt taste with more earthy fruit tones on the end. Yeast and bread play a part in the middle with some toffee finish. Very nice. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Nov 21, 2005 Bottle. Malty, green apple aroma. Dark brown colour. Quite sweet flavour, some fruitiness. Not that nice. 9er (29), Delaware, USA Nov 19, 2005 This ale is smooth on the palate and light on carbonation. The lightly sweet metalic flavor lingers between citrus and bourbon.
