Inveigler (371), Ferndale, Michigan, USA Jan 16, 2005 Huge cotton candy and bubble gum aromas in the aroma -- this stuff smells like the day I spent working a concession stand at a carnival. Muddy, murky, ruddy appearance with tinge of amber and lots of haziness. NIce sugary sweetness with a little acidic souness and plenty more hops than I would anticipate. Nice overall mouthfeel and a pleasant warmth. A very good brew. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Jan 15, 2005 Draft at CAH. Medium brown, OK head. Aroma of wood and faint dark fruit, and a note of dried hops. Flavor was also quite woody, some malt, and more undefined dark fruits. Somehow, not quite in balance, the flavors just didn’t meld. Could improve with a bottle that has been aged a bit. Incidentally, it was much better with food, as the wood notes fell back and fruit flavors of currants came forward. Rating based upon drinking without food. wilkie (1189), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jan 14, 2005 Bottle. Red-brown, hazy with medium tan head and lacing. Lovely Caramel aroma. Flavor is light, caramel and alcohol in aftertaste. Sweet finish. Good beer. rgrep (150), Wellington, New Zealand Jan 13, 2005 Rich and warming aroma with plenty of alcohol and caramelised oranges. Pours a deep ruby with a shrinking off-white head and sticky lace. The body is sweet, toffeeish and a tad cloying. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 4, 2005 Bottle at Plan B. Cph. Dk. Red-brown color with a big tan head. Sweet caramel fruity aroma and sweet dry light alcoholic fruity caramel yeasty taste. Medium to full body and a sweet warming alcoholic finish. npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA Dec 22, 2004 Deep brown, clear, with a good-sized tan head. Nice sweet nose, with chocolate, grapes, and light licorice or anise notes. Flavor is sweet, with some cider, a touch of anise, raisins, bready yeast, and a good deal of bitterness. envane (251), Evanston, Illinois, USA Dec 11, 2004 Rich, decadently sweet offering. Caramel, dark fruit, and orange. Alcohol well hidden. Cloying? Maybe, but I like this stuff. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dec 5, 2004 Updated: May 14, 2009Murky brown color with a thin light brown head.
