bacummings (21), Alabama, USA May 28, 2009 Nutty, smokey flavor that changes every second that it’s in your mouth. Kind of foamy texture. fata2683 (837), Panama City, Florida, USA May 19, 2009 bottle, pours brown with a tall light tan head. Carmel malt, raisin and fig nose. Dark rock candy, creamy roasted malt, and a light spice in the finish. This is like a mild version of the Van De Keizer, but is a great stand alone strong ale. Extremely impressed. pivnizub (4949), Bochum, Porúří, Germany May 12, 2009 Bottle: Clear, chestnut-amber coloured, slim beige lacy head; sweet raisins in the fruity-alcoholic nose; solid sweet flavour, medium bodied, a bit sticky; fruit-cake and warming brandy in the sweet finish.Fine, fine......... Geiserich (1775), Vienna, Austria May 11, 2009 Bottled: Sweet malty aroma, burnt malt notes. Amber to chestnut brown color. Flavor is first sweet malty. Then light fruity with burnt dried fruit followed by bitter hop. Arayaga2 (933), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 7, 2009 Hazy brown with an inch of dimpled tan head. Aroma is dark cola notes with bits of apple and spice. Taste is the same with candi sugar and coffee in the finish, along with a light tang. $7.50/750ml Bontus (291), Waasmunster, Belgium Apr 30, 2009 Updated: May 14, 2009Bottle. Pours dark maroon brown with an off-white head. Very malty nose, starts as liquid toffee. Body filled with dark fruits, figs & plums. Touch of chocolatemint & liquorice in the aftertaste (wait for it). The palate is just perfect, almost buttery and definitely creamy with a subtle carbonation.
zakkbironia (82), Athens, Greece Apr 30, 2009 Updated: May 16, 2009This is not just a good old belgian beer. Great colour and nice creamy taste along wih a balanced alcohol percentage. A real shotgun made for every fan of beer! Pleasant surprise when i first tasted it! Pretty expensive but worth it. One of the best strong belgian ale beers if not the best.
floydian1 (255), FNQ, Australia Apr 29, 2009 330ml bottle into tulip glass. Deep burgundy coloured with a medium tan head and good lacing. Healthy aromas of nutty roasted malts with caramel, dark fruits and a trace of liquorice. Similar flavours to the nose with a medium body and creamy texture. Finishes with a spicy bittersweetness that lingers. Lightly carbonated. A fine example of the style.
