Pitch brown color with a finger’s worth of foam floating on top. Nice aroma of plums and cherries. Strong sweet malt taste with more earthy fruit tones on the end. Yeast and bread play a part in the middle with some toffee finish. Very nice.

(33 cl bottle at 3 Smår Rum, Göteborg) On March 12, 2008. BB 2010. Clear dark reddish brown color, medium size tan head. Sweet, phenolic, fruity and alcohol scent. Also medicinal and spicy. Spicy, yeasty sweet taste with a surpisingly light aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness. Alcohol in the taste is rather well hidden. Some metallic hints in taste and aftertaste.

330ml bottle. Rich brown, initially thick beige head. Beautiful sweet fruity aroma - apple, pear, melon, glue-solvent. Gentle carbonation leaves a smooth creamy feel in the mouth. Upon swallowing a beautiful wave of richly roasted malt covers the tongue. Given the colour I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised, but it was so wonderfully rich a taste it really lit my eyes up. Everything in excellent balance - well mellowed maltiness, subtly winey sweetness. Two sips, and I indeed feel like an emperor!

(33cl bottle) Pours a huge, frothy, tan head that doesn’t quit. The body is a deep reddish brown. The nose hints of fresh figs, jamaican molasses, barrel-aged bourbon, lemons and plums. Very sweet - maple syrup, refined sugar and caramel. I’d definitely rejoin this beer for another tasting.

Bottle in a mixed pack for Christmas. Pours dark brown with a large creamy head, some dried fruits on the nose with wafts of alcohol and sweetness. Taste is gloriously smooth with dried fruits and a continuing molasses sweetness and quite sticky. I will add that as much as I liked this it didn’t quite measure up to being as good as the sum of it’s parts had promised. Still a very good beer.

Bottled. A bit hazy, amber colour. Complex aroma and flavour from dried and sweet fruits and maybe some chocolate. Really malty.
