Hints of very light nuts, like cashews, in the flavor. Very nice. SuIIy (1479), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA

Pours a speckled brown color with a foamy off white head. Nose is estery, light bubblegum, bananas, dark fruits, light yeast. Taste is doughy, some sweetness, toffee, banana, and an alcohol warming finishes it up. Some light peppermint is even noticed throughout. TheEpeeist (1477), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA

Nose is yeast, plum and raisin with an odd mustiness. Slick and slightly chewy with a tang and a tingle. Taste is toffee and dark fruits with jammy notes. Dry finish with a touch of bitter yeast. A solid Belgian Strong. daboskabouter (1470), Fergus, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 26, 2003 Cloudy brown liquid with a bubbly head on top. Red licorice dominates the nose with malt coming in a close second. Alcohol and a apricot fruitiness also in the nose. The body is malty and has a surprising and nice bitterness. Ends somewhat fruity. Nice complex ale. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 24, 2004 Deep red/brown color, creamy tan head. Aroma of malt, some plum, raisin, yeast. Great malt prescence, some light yeast, plum, vanilla, fairly sweet, bit of caramel and cherry. Comes across as rich and soft, no alcohol detected. The palate really allowed the flavors to gel in such a nice way. High quality stuff. The more I have from this brewery the more I like it. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 25, 2004 Murky ruby red body, with a small tan head. The aroma reveals raisins, dark fruits, alcohol, toffee and some spices, very nice! Impressive flavor! Sweet, yet its very refreshing, apple, spice, raisin, toffee and a nice alcohol burn in the end. This beer is quite remarkable... Het Anker is becoming one of my favorite Belgian brewers. Very good. KyotoLefty (1461), Kyoto, Japan
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Very dark brown with a bit of a nice orange tint. Less head than expected, and fades a bit quickly. Fruity, slightly funky aroma, molasses, caramel, honey and spice. Sweet, honey and brown sugar flavor, with chocolate, licorice and dried fruits. Very sweet yet has about enough funk to balance. Interesting and original. Complex, but a bit too sweet and cloying. I like it, though.
