Thanks to HogTownHarry. Pretty dark brown/black. Large off white head. Aroma: peppery, malt, slight chocolate. Nail varnish remover, alcohol. Flavour: chewy toffee, malt, chocolate, alcohol and shoe polish LOL. However it has a lovely long smooth chocolate malt finish. Lovely.

Brown, with a tan head. Aroma is malt, raisins, alochol, and lesser amounts of chocolate and caramel. Flavor is very sweet, with malt, raisins, caramel, toffee, and some spice. Nice, but very sweet.

Very, very wine-like in flavor, texture, aroma...but not the carbonation. Highly carbonated with big, robust bubbles. Very yeasty aroma. A touch of sweetness balances this beer out, and it's not too bad.

This one poured a mahogany brown color with an off white head. Aroma was rich sweet malts and not much else. Flavor was much the same, very sweet, but nothing sticks out to me at all.

Mahogany appearance with a large, firm, tan head and very good lacing. Multi layered aroma of yeast, dark fruits, chocolate and caramel malts. Sweet, yeasty flavors with a variety of fruits, some spicyness and a passive amount of hops. Well concealed alcohol in the full bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Medium length finish remained sweet but not cloying.

Rerate 24/10/05: Damn it’s great to come back to a beer and discover it’s even better than you first thought. This looked great, mahogany with a tall creamy head that left great swathes of lace. The aroma showed molasses, grape juice, banana and peppery alcohol. Terrific initial mouthfeel, thick and creamy. Lots of dried fruit on the tongue, with some treacle, orange and a big slug of that 8.5% abv. Sherry notes and hoppy bitterness in the warming finish. A very delicate balancing act. (33cl bottle, Balmain Village Cellars, bb 2/3/08)
