Aroma is of toffee. Has a deep brown body with some beige head and mega particles. Creamy caramel taste that doesn't cover all of the alcohol. Minimal bitterness. A solid Belgian Strong.

Pours almost black with a creamy tan head. Aroma heavy on yeast and sweet caramel. Flavor is sweet and malty, with a fruity/vinous character and a hoppy, dry finish. Nothing spectacular, but a good, solid Belgian.

0.33L bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep reddish-brown with a fair reddish-tan head. Aroma: Very sweet and rich, lots of dark dried fruits, slightly minty molasses and treacle, a little woody and vinous, slightly nutty, a little alcohol, so warm and inviting. Palate: Medium+ body, fairly soft effervescence. Flav.: Just as rich and wonderful as the nose, lots of dark dried fruits, plenty of brown sugar and treacle, some molasses and slightly minty herbals, a touch of wood and nuttiness; sweet but balanced with a bit of warming alcohol, nuttiness and fruitiness to finish.

A beautiful sipper.

Thin head, light coffee in colour. Body is very dark brown. Shows ok lacing. Nose is quite rich, candied, heavy, slightly ’stewed’ malts. Heavy weight palate with lots going on, good complexity. Starts out relatively light early in the palate with more heavy, slightly roasted malts but then transcends to some excellent licorice. People talk about licorice in shiraz but this beer shows much better (and obvious) flavour definition. Finishes just a touch short with some alcohol burn, this in itself is not a deal breaker.

330ml bottle pours a lightly clouded dark brown ale with ruby highlights in the chalice. 2 finger puffy tan cap lasts well and laces. Complex aromas, dark fruit, treacle, cocoa, herbs spice, sweet cookie dough. nice Complex character and peppery mouth feel. Front side gives dark fruits and some vinous grape skin qualities then waves of sugary sweetness, roast cocoa, licorice and vanilla, ....long boozy warming finish. Sweet vinous after taste. ....nice complexity of flavours but thin bodied so it does not hide it’s alcohol well and too sugary for my taste in Belgian ales.

Lovely looking belgian ale here. The smell is very strong, almost unbearable for me. Lots of fruits. Almost smells like something went wrong? Could be my bottle. The taste is easy and fine. Sits easy on the tongue and goes down well. The labeling of the bottle almost leads me to believe that it would taste far different than this, but it’s a pleasant surprise. The alcohol hit me as I neared the bottom of the glass. A good beer.

Sugary molasses, bread, and dark fruity aroma. A good dose of earthy yeast to compliment the scent. Medium brown color, good amount of lacing and a creamy, lasting off white head. Easy sipping, velvety with a medium to thin feel. Flavor compliments the aroma, only not as impressive. Still plenty of depth with a fair amount of dark, fermented fruits, brown sugar, fresh breads, and musty yeast.
