Sugary molasses, bread, and dark fruity aroma. A good dose of earthy yeast to compliment the scent. Medium brown color, good amount of lacing and a creamy, lasting off white head. Easy sipping, velvety with a medium to thin feel. Flavor compliments the aroma, only not as impressive. Still plenty of depth with a fair amount of dark, fermented fruits, brown sugar, fresh breads, and musty yeast.

75cl bottle. Dark reddish brown, creamy beige head. Very alcoholic, sweet candi sugary aroma with liquorice, aniseed. Quite dull sugary flavor with same herbs, little roastiness and alcohol. Almost medium bodied with smooth carbonation. Nothing special here, average strong ale.

Deep Ruby hue with a big foamy head. Sweet malty nose, rich fruit...plums, currants mixed with the scent of leaf litter on the forest floor. Earthy and yeasty with spice undertones. Sweetness dominates, almost a stickiness on the lips, rich and warming. Nice mouthfeel. I'm sure I will enjoy this even more when I try it in a cooler climate, not sitting here sweating in the tropics.

Pours a nice semi dark hazy brown with a medium layer of froathy offwhite head. Aroma is brown sugar, oak, raisins, and spices. Absolutely delicious. Flavor is sweet, brown sugar, and slightly burbony. Overall, very very enjoyable.

Pours a brownish-amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of raisons, caramel, slight candied sugar, yeast, banana, slight alcochol, and some citrus hops. Flavor is strong of raisons, figs, caramel, and banana up front with a dry finish of banana, yeast, and a little alcohol warming. Truely a delicious beer.

Okay, this is the first Belgian that I’m rating from a real chalice, rather than my old straight-walled pint glass, so the visuals might be skewed. Not a whole ton of tan head, dark ruby body, malty nose. Thick mouthfeel, much thicker than the flavor - I do have some allergies acting up, which may be affecting my perception, but I didn’t have problems tasting the Chimay Blue I had before this one. Hmmm. Fruity, with a touch of spice. Got better after I had a piece of Chimay cheese.

rootbeer brown body with small white head...splendid aroma of chewy malts, toasty caramels, toffee, nougat, twigs and berries...flavor begins nice and sugary, leading to caramel, brown sugar, and molasses notes...nice palate, and an excellent beer!

330ml brown bottle. Best before date of 14.06.09. Pours dark ruddy brown, cloudy. Small swirly layer of tan foam on top. Not much lacing. Aroma is of dark malt, fairly sweet and raisiny with caramel. Flavour echos aroma, dark caramel malts, some chocolate malt, raisiny fruitiness, sweet and malty with a slight suggestion of alcohol. Dry and yeasty in the finish. Full bodied, fine carbonation.
