330ml brown bottle. Best before date of 14.06.09. Pours dark ruddy brown, cloudy. Small swirly layer of tan foam on top. Not much lacing. Aroma is of dark malt, fairly sweet and raisiny with caramel. Flavour echos aroma, dark caramel malts, some chocolate malt, raisiny fruitiness, sweet and malty with a slight suggestion of alcohol. Dry and yeasty in the finish. Full bodied, fine carbonation.

Pours a hazed brown orange with a gradient to a white foamy head. The nose is big and sweet. Carame, prunes, raisin and a really subtle fruity berry. Creamy velvetty smooth stickiness with a subdued carbonation. Big as sweet cloying malt. Really yummy. Prunes, raisins, a little bit buttery. Definitely brown sugar. Somehow, a surprisingly dry finish with a little apple tartness and a buttery finish. A really lovely beer that I had overlooked for just too long. Thanks Yaniv!

0,33 l bottle.
Nice deep ruby-mahagony colored beer, poured clear with a nice foamy tan head that diminishes slowly to a small, delicious lacing one. Fine, alluring aroma with caramel and fine toasred malt, belgian yeast, candy sugar and pleasant fruits. Rich body, fine texture with roundish mouthfeel. Flavor of candy, caramel and toasted malt, moderated fruity esters like plum and raisins. Some roasted character in the fine aftertaste. Direct hit of the style.

Deep brown color with some orange and yellow hues showing through, something like light ancake syrup. Head is medium thick and khaki color. Smell is delicious, if only all beers could smell this delightful: brown sugar, dark & candied fruits, and a spicy hop bite. Taste isstong and interesting: grapes, raisins, prunes up front with sugar, heavy malt and slight hopping. Lucious aftertaste, coating and sweet. Strong beer. Sampled from a 12oz bottle purchased at Whole Foods in Vienna, VA.

330 ml bottle from a trade with hogtownharry. pours deep maroon with a small tan head that fades quickly. big dark fruit aromas with yeast and a touch of cheese. flavours are all raison and fig. some yeast crosses the palate but the complex fruit display is far more noticable as the brew warms and diminishes all other flavours. darn good stuff. thanks harry!

I wasn’t planning on rating this. I grabbed what I thought was the Carolus triple, and then noticed it was pouring red-brown. Oops. I find their triple too sweet for my taste, but this was marginally better. The syrupy notes were still there, but the addition of some darker malts gave it some raisiny, plummy, figgy, date, and dough flavors. The finish was a little murky, and I would appreciated some more hops, but overall a little better balanced than the triple and easier to drink. A ton of yeast, though.

Hazy brown with an inch of dimpled tan head. Aroma is dark cola notes with bits of apple and spice. Taste is the same with candi sugar and coffee in the finish, along with a light tang. $7.50/750ml
