The aroma was malts, yeast, raisin and cherry. Later on a bit of chocolate came out. The flavor was raisin, yeast, malts and some chocolate. Lots of carbonation. Almost medium in body. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 31, 2004 Bottle: Dark brown with a heavy beige head. Aroma of burnt coffee and caramel. Alcohol comes through very strong killing all else and not allowing to appreciate anything else. At 8.5% this should not be an issue, it should not be noticable. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 8, 2007 Pours a very deep and dark amber with a slight bit of cloud on it. Big head of course. Some lacing too. On the nose it is mildly sweet. The flavor is excellent. I would describe it as mature instead of mild. Kind of hearty on the start with a smooth fruit start, and then later you get a bit of the 8% alcohol, and then on the end you get a roasted flavor. Complex, but smooth, and not over-pronounced as a whole. Definitely worth going back to. I’d love to get some more of these and lay them down for a while.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 23, 2008 Bottle. Sweet malty and fruity aroma. Hazy dark reddish brown body, creamy beige head. Flavor is ripe fruit sweet, with plenty of caramel and malt evident, and a bit of intrusive alcohol. Sweet finish. Tasty, but not superlative. Disappointing on the whole.
