Pours a beige head of good duration, with very attractive, curtain lacing, over a clear, reddish brown (SRM 20) body....nose heavy with dried fruits (raisin, cherry, plum) mild toffee, honey, mild molasses, also a tinge of burnt wood (campfire)....tastes initially of sweet toffee malts, then balancing fruits, again raisin and dried cherry, bit of plum, molasses, and a touch of wood balance, ends up slightly sweet....mouth feel is thick and heavy, carbonation relatively high. A lovely brew.

Sep 29, 2008 Bottle, Ale Cellar, Darlington. Poured a dark reddy brown with a decent lingering creamy off white head. Aroma was potent; vinous, with plenty of brandy soaked dark fruit with toffee and yeast notes. Super stuff.
Full bodied and smooth slipping down. Sweetish initially, then plenty of spice chocolate and fruit. Long, malty, slightly boozy finish. Very good stuff.

Nov 11, 2007 750 Ml Bottle-Clear amber color w/a nice white head. Sweet fruity aroma. Rich full flavor w/traces of cane sugar, caramel, Figs, dark fruit, & spices. Very good Belgian w/a satisfying flavor, though not as sweet as some. Alcohol is evedent, this is an after dinner, warmer upper. Very fresh w/a long spicy finish.

Apr 17, 2006 (04.01.06) 330 mL brown bottle purchased at The Tree pub, Beijing, China. ABV 8.5 %. Bottle states that best before 250408. Poured clear deep reddish amber with small white head. Soft carbonation. Spicy fruit in the nose. Medium-to-full bodied Belgium ale that starts with light malt sweetness and caramel/raisin flavors. Finishes with light malt fade. Alcohol well hidden behind flavors. Definite alcoholic warmth. No funky medicinal phenols or sourness. Smooth and rich tasting with pleasant aroma. A delicious malty Belgium ale.

Apr 15, 2003 This one pours a hazy, dark brown color with a mostly diminishing, small off-white head. The aroma is strongly fruity with hints of banana, caramel, yeast, vanilla, and brown sugar. Full body with moderate carbonation, it has a slightly syrupy texture and flavors of sweet, dark fruits, sugar, toffee, and yeast. The finish is long and sweet with a touch of caramel and vanilla. An excellent beer that leaves you licking your lips and wanting more.

Dec 18, 2008 Bottle: Poured a dark color beer with a thick foamy brown head with excellent retention. Aroma of figs with sweet alcohol notes and typical Belgian yeast is easily identifiable and greatly enjoyable. Taste is quite rich with figs and plum sweetness with a thick body and warm alcohol note mix with lots of yeast.
