Bottle. Very dark brown body with a big beige head and moderate lacing. Rich sweet fruity malt aroma, raisins, figs. Flavour is similarly sweet with deliciously rounded fruitiness (more ambiguous dark fruit) light notes of dark sugars. Alcohol starts out warming but subtle, becomes just a touch more noticeable as it warms up. Smooth medium to full bodied palate. I almost didn’t open this tonight and am quite glad I did now. Very nice.

Bottle pours a dark brown body with 2 finger tan head. Spiced well with clove cinnamon. Chocolate malt, a nutty aroma, and fruity esters. Banana and vanilla.

This brew poured a large head of fine to large sized foamy mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent brown colored body with no visible carbonation and a fair lacing. The aroma was a nice caramel malt one with raosted notes and the mouthfeel was very smooth and thick from start to its lingering malt finish. The flavor is very nice with notes of strong sweet dark malt and well hidden alcohol. Very scrumptious and well recommended!

Bottle. Average creamy off-white head that was mostly lasting. Good lacing left in glass. Murky body with particulate and a dark brown colour. Heavy malt with notes of molasses, caramel, chocolate, roasted, nutty. Light citrus and some cheese, banana, plum and date. Slight port feel with light notes of wood being present. Full bodied with a flat carbonation and a creamy like texture. Moderated to heavy sweet flavour with some notes of bitterness to it. Finish is short to average with sweetness as the bearing flavour. Reminded me of the Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer in a lighter version. Very nice!

(Bottled, 0.75l) Quite clear, dark amber color with a small head. Sweetish, malty, slightly alcoholic, candy aroma. Sweet, syrupy-malty, vanilla, pear, candy-toffee flavor, with anise and berry hints, plus some acidity. Black pepper in the aftertaste. Alcohol is very well hidden in the flavor. Smooth, syrupy, slightly ashy palate with a bit foamy carbonation. A nice and balanced brew. Much easier to drink, than the Xmas version, and not nearly as anisey. (1984 vintage, sampled 3/2006, 7.6% ABV) A thick, extremely malty-syrupy, sweet plum/raisin soup. Some vinous character, too. Definitely not dried out.

Brown red colour. Medium carbonation. A lot of fruits like raisins, plums, prunes & cherry. Almost overpowering or harsh. It has a good body and long finish, but personally this is the least good Het Anker brew that I’ve tasted! Still worth checking out!

Neutral stale fruity nose. Hazy brown, creamy head. Rye bread flavors, nuts, preserved fruit, a hint of vegetable. Medium body, fizzy mouthfeel.
