pilsnerrogge (1577), Finspång, Sweden Aug 18, 2003 Brown colour. Nice head, doesn't stay long, though. Wonderful aroma, reminds of some creamy chocolate dessert I had once (can't remember it's name). The taste is a smooth mix of coffee and chocolate. The alcohol is there but stays in the background.
dkachur (723), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 19, 2008 750 mL bottle from Market Street Wine Shop Downtown. Dark brown color with a huge head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma of yeast, fruitiness, candi sugar, tobacco and alcohol. Flavor of brown sugar, dark fruits, candi sugar. Alcohol is well hidden. Full bodied. Borresteijn (443), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 18, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown beer, creamy beige head. Aroma is very sweet, like a candy stick. Taste is the same, extremely sweet with a alcohol bitter finish. Some roasted malts. Way too sweet. bookman10 (9), Osseo, Minnesota, USA does not count Aug 17, 2008 Far too sweet for my taste, with a sour aftertaste to it. Nice dark pour with a rich head and fruity aromas and flavors. Some berry flavor, honey, caramel, etc. Not my favorite beer--the sweetness is almost cloying, as others have mentioned. But I’m glad I gave it a try. Scauca (226), Lovere, Italy Aug 13, 2008 Brown with red hues. Off-white vanishing head. Sweet malty aroma, lingering from licorice to weak hints of berries and chocolate. Well bodied, a bit cloying. Nice but lack deepness. sinkas (174), Perth/Fremantle, Australia Aug 13, 2008 Bottle,
While this has quite nice complex aroma, for me the palate is far too sweet, and a little cloying, Just too sweet for me.
