Strong toffee, choccolate and coffee notes. Definite strong choccolate aroma. The beer remains however still refreshing. That’s absolutely amazing. "Skål" to Het Anker!! Lots of apple/pear presence, figs, peach, maple syrup. The perfect amount of alcohol presence to give it some bold kick. Firm mouthfeel, very well done. A good beer for celebrating something, which I’m doing right now! OlJuntan64 (1267), Perth, Australia

Fresh caramel malt, bubblegum, banana and a light cookie dough yeast aroma. Rich velvety smooth festive beer palate. Medium soft body, alcohol well masked with big classy balanced yeast and caramel flavours. Light bitter and sweeter fruity malty kick off, soft sweet malty halftime and final. Stands up nicely alongside its bigger brother. softale (188), Michigan, USA

Nice aroma of plums and cherries. Strong sweet malt taste with more earthy fruit tones on the end. Yeast and bread play a part in the middle with some toffee finish. Very nice. Powerful aroma with mostly fruit, light spice, and sweet malt. This doesn’t have the weird sweetness of Abbaye des Rocs, but is well balanced all around with the sweet fruit flavors. It looks good with an off white head but no visible sediment. Overall this is a very high quality Belgian ale that is exactly what I expect of this style. It is very good all around without excelling in any area. Rerate March 2007, in Belgium. Score unchanged.
