Served in a NB worthy glass. Color is orange/reddish brown with a small kahki head. The aroma is kahlua (first time I have ever said that) with some sour cherries and vanilla in the background. Beer is still quite cool, another 10°F should bring the aromas out, still very good smelling. As it warms dark fruits emerge. The intial mouthfeel is huge. The intial taste is nutty, deep dark fruits, vanilla, yeast, and wood followed by a bit of alcohol and tanginess. The flavor is missing a little complexity (for the style) but this doesn’t diminish the fact that this is a great beer. Thanks BBM! MoritzF (4954), Bochum, Germany

Sweet toast-malty and slightly nutty aroma with toffee, vanilla and a slightly vinous fruity touch of raisins. Sweet flavour with a light burnt bitterness, full bodied with a very creamy and pleasant mouthfeel. Aromatic, delicately toasty malt profile with notes of caramel, dark berries and raisins. Strong malty and subtle fruity finish with a pleasant, Armagnac-like finish. A very balanced and complex brew [19.XII.08]. hughie (3058), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England

Fruity taste, very sweet, with coffee notes and just a touch of dryness. I found there was just a bit too much frothy carbonation in the mouthfeel. Otherwise a delightful strong ale. Malty aroma, quite sweet, with lots of fruit, burnt sugar and vanilla, a complex yeast profile and a strong spiciness (cinnamon, nutmeg?). Taste is full and rounded with cherry and vanilla upfront, and more spice and a subtle hop presence in the finish. Full bodied, low carbonation. kopestes (164), Braine l’Alleud, Belgium
