| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 8, 2003 Mahogany auburn color, no head or lacing as expected (it was on tap, very cold). Cordimon and dark fruit aromas with caramel nuts & rye bread. Sweet easy drinking flavor, mild grapefruit (not hops), banana, vanilla, licorice. Palate has detectable alcohol and citrus notes. Overall this is an easy drinking BSA, not as harsh as the grand cru but that is the point I guess. It's like a silk blanket with a thread of wool every couple feet. Aged a little with a subtle sweetness. thegreenrooster (1841), St.louis, Missouri, USA

Flavor is much of the same but even better. Toffee, dark fruits sugar and nutmeg all come to mind. Alcohol is there at the end but does not overpower. eboats (889), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Bottled. Pours dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is sweet malt, strong sweet belgian yeast, and a hint of bubble gum. Flavor is sweet, smooth malt, slightly buttery, and really reminds me of Westmalle Dubbel. Body had the perfect balance for a belgian. Cornfield (4954), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 8, 2005 This is a quality brew, pouring a deep nutty brown body with a dense, fizzy tan head. The aroma is toffee with raisins and brown sugar and a hint of alcohol with mayhaps a touch of chocolate. Slightly spritzy in the mouth, it delivers a flavor of sweet toffee, dark fruits, burnt brown sugar, some chocolate, a bit of smokey woodiness, and white peppers. The finish is sweet and alcohol warm. Very good.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 14, 2009 Updated: Jul 8, 200933 cl. bottle. Pours a beige head of good duration, with very attractive, curtain lacing, over a clear, reddish brown (SRM 20) body....nose heavy with dried fruits (raisin, cherry, plum) mild toffee, honey, mild molasses, also a tinge of burnt wood (campfire)....tastes initially of sweet toffee malts, then balancing fruits, again raisin and dried cherry, bit of plum, molasses, and a touch of wood balance, ends up slightly sweet....mouth feel is thick and heavy, carbonation relatively high. A lovely brew. csbosox (1082), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 20, 2006 Bottle is from BeerBuzzMontreal and has been cellaring for at least a year and a half. bb 14/06/06. Served in a NB worthy glass. Color is orange/reddish brown with a small kahki head. The aroma is kahlua (first time I have ever said that) with some sour cherries and vanilla in the background. Beer is still quite cool, another 10°F should bring the aromas out, still very good smelling. As it warms dark fruits emerge. The intial mouthfeel is huge. The intial taste is nutty, deep dark fruits, vanilla, yeast, and wood followed by a bit of alcohol and tanginess. The flavor is missing a little complexity (for the style) but this doesn’t diminish the fact that this is a great beer. Thanks BBM!
