Nice lace here, lots of head retention. Nose of candied fruit, yeast, sherry wine, dates, some oak. Tastes fruity sweet matched with a nice hop balance. Raisins, plum, a bit yeasty, toffee, some vanilla and floral spiciness. Very creamy with a lovely spicy and fruity aftertaste, that lingers for ages. Top notch stuff. thehoff (569), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA

This was the 2008 Vintage. I would love to try one a bit older. Probably the best beer that I tried at the show. Again a little bit too cold but was able to warm in hand. Excellent beer and this as well I would like to try blind against Chimay Blue one of my favorites. Sweet dark dried fruits, some chocolate, hint of coffee and quite dry. Excellent beer. danielcurtis81 (890), San Diego, California, USA

Flavors really bready and at times tart. Nice fruit flavors too. Mouth is very chewy and carbonated. No complaints here. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA

The aroma was sweet, apple cider and bubble gum. The flavor was dark fruits, dark sugar, sweet malts and well balanced with yeast. Overall, an excellent beer zapprentice (310), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Easily one of my favorites. Incredible dark caramel color with a medium head. Taste just sits on the tongue with a smooth finish. High alcohol content but does not take away from the fruitiness of the beer. Highly suggest. The main note in the smell is apples and a hint of clove, the taste is unbelievably smooth and tastes like powdery apple goodness. Perfect sweetness, can’t taste the alcohol and I wonder why, the taste is suprisingly subtle. The mouthfeel is exquisite. Classy fucking beer. LordCorkscrew (962), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy

Avrei moltissime cose da dire sull’aroma e sul sapore e sull’aspetto (un pochino deludente - unica cosa - per la scarsa schiuma; ma il colore splendido), ma ho un sonno terrificante. Dark caramel brow color with a lasting beige head of fine bubbles. Vinous, yeasty, and fruity aroma with dates and cherry. The flavor is sweet, yet well balanced, with complex yeast, brown sugar, and dried fruit flavors of dates and prune. Medium-full is body with lively carbonation that lets it glide over your tongue. This was outstanding with chocolate mousse for dessert. Wonderful on its own, but the pairing was truly sublime. I was looking forward to this, and it more than delivered.
