Apr 22, 2008 On tap at Hamilton’s. Pours hazy copper with thin off white head. The aroma is simply huge with raisins, prunes, figs and coriander spice. Big fruity aroma. The taste is similar with a pulse of Belgian yeast up front along with a load of figs, dates and raisins. The spiciness builds toward the finish along with malty sweetness, a hint of lemon tartness and more fruity esters. Huge tasty brew packed with flavor.

Apr 19, 2008 2007 750ML Corked Bottle.
Pours a deep caramel brown with a medium off white head. Aroma of Fruit, Yeast, Rasins, Caramel and Spices. Flavor is rasin, yeast, malt, lots of fruity notes and sweetness in this one. Mouthfeel is delightful as well. Try this one if you haven’t yet it’s worth it.

Apr 14, 2008 2005, Consumed in 2008. Caramel color, with biege head. Nice nose, smells of Port, and assorted dried fruit(apricot?). Still very sweet, but also very nice. Honey and raison being the dominating flavors, but much more to it, quite complex, and balanced. Nice session brew, better shared, can be slightly overwhelming after a while, but overall good.

Apr 10, 2008 Beautiful pour of deep prune brown with a thin, tan halo of a head. Aroma and flavor are parallel, with dried fruits, caramel, and a bit of alcohol that is quite warming.

Apr 9, 2008 2006 bottle thanks to DocHop: Pours hazy brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma is a delicious combination of raisin, pear, plum, and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is a bunch of dark fruit and caramel with a bit of wine. Very smooth. A little bit of earthy alcohol on the finish. Really good beer.

Apr 9, 2008 2006: Pours a very dark amber, caramel color with a medium tan head that diminishes quickly. Wonderful aroma of caramel, raisons, belgian yeast, and wine/grapes. Immediate taste of raisons, plums, and sweet malts. Has a great caramel spiciness with a somewhat dry, merlot/wine like finish. Hides the alcohol well behind a superbly smooth and creamy body.

Apr 6, 2008 [Vintage 2005, sampled 2008]. Dark brown with a low head. Exciting aroma of dark dried fruits and port. At this point the beer is still very sweet and dominated by syrup, honey, oak, basement, candy and raisins. In small amounts it is quite complex and exciting but more than one glass quickly gets nauseating, due to the sticky sweetness.

Apr 1, 2008 Poured dark brown with almost no head. Aroma is strong with alcohol, overly ripe fruit (mostly cherry) and a bit of caramel. Mouthfeel is sticky and flat. Flavor is strong, with dried fruit, yeast and alcohol dominating. This could really use some more carbonation and complexity. for such a highly rated beer, I was a bit dissapointed. Bad bottle perhaps ?
