(2008) Split this with Jefferson in the top of the ninth inning as the Phillies clinched the National League Championship for the second consecuitve year. Pours a vivid, electric amber with a velvety, creamy tan head. Aroma of apples, grapes, raisins, vanilla, honey, clove, and hints of pepper, nutmeg, and ginger. Fuller bodied with a lovely warming sensation. Hides the alcohol perfectly. Bold, crisp, tart finish. Excellent Belgian strong ale. Highly recommended. Lyncham (67), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 20, 2009 This beer rocks. The aroma is complete with malts, licorice, and candi additives. What really surprised me was how well the licorice flavor was present, but did not take over. The beer is very complex. You taste a rosted malt flavor, the spice, the licorice, some fruits, and you get the bittering hops at the end. The alcohol content is fantastic. The only way you can tell it is strong is if you evaporate the beer off of you tounge by strongly breathing in. TreborWhip (104), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 18, 2009 750ml bottle (2008) poured into a tulip glass produced a medium-thick tan head with brown body. Flavor and aroma of sweet, dark fruits and sugars with hints of caramel/molasses. The 11% alcohol was well concealed. Add this to my favorites list. keepersj12 (816), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA

Ripe fruit, very wine like, brown sugar, vanilla. Flavor is sweet fruit , vanilla and candied sugar up front with a slightly bitter end. Finishes with a nice burn. I’m drinking this while watching a football game and a Coors Lite commercial comes on. OliverG (85), montreal, Quebec, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 29, 2009 2008 vintage. pours a deep dark brown that matches my dresser very nicely, nice little beige head with some good lacing. smells of apples, bananas, plums, cherries, raisins, lots of fruit here. malty taste with some fruits present mostly the same ones as on the smell with a strong lingering finish. the 11% is obvious in this one but its very fruity and rich overall. very solid brew, highly suggested.
