Mørk brunrød på farge. Svakt brunfarget skum. Lukt av frukt og bær - og litt malt. Sammensatt smak - men helhetsinntrykket blir vel søtt: Frukt & bær & karamell. Søt bitter ettersmak som varer lenge. Nesten som søt sherry i avslutninga. KI=2. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

I have had this beer many times, and it definitely improves with age. Big pop when the cork comes out of the bottle.Very dark brown, and a thick, lacing head that never quite fades. Aroma has fruit and Belgian yeast. A very complex beer, with figs, sweet malt, very light anise, and some chocolate. The high abv is well hidden. One of the richest, heaviest palates found on any beer. It is without a doubt one of the finest beers in the world. thirdeye11 (553), Texas, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 25, 2009 Pour was insanely heady, with a moderately light pour the glass was over 3/4ths head. The other way around is an easy way to get a five. This rounded the bases and went backwards because of overkill. Stays at a four because of fantastic lacing and a nice light brown murky liquid. Down to about half and half as I finish typing this. Aroma is malty, yeasty, candied, very belgian if that makes any sense. Now that the head is at a managable level, a sip: I can see why this one has a pretty good reputation. Dark fruit, light rasin, a little banana bread. While the flavor isn’t typically what I look for, I can step back from my own bias and see that this is a good mix and it is done well. Palate is really great, thick and creamy with low-med carb. mar (1933), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2009 I bought this for my self for my 25th Birthday. If it is good enough for the kaiser on his birthday then it is good enough for me on mine. Pours hazelnut brown, sweet aroma, dark fruit and raisins. Bread. Lots of suspended sediment. Slightly alcoholic aroma. The flavour is that of dark fruits and home made raisin bread. Malty yeasty and dry. Great! BroSpud (612), , Massachusetts, USA

Rating it to keep track but don’t have any particulars. I do remember really liking this one and made a point of writing the name of it on my notes for followup tasting.
