Smells heavily herbed like rosemary, malts with many fruits, the hoppiness is more on the subtle side, while the focus is more on the rich malts and the heavy body of the beer, great beer.

Had it from Bottle in Belgium and from draft at Cheeky Monk at Denver. From draft it was delicious. Was the only Belgium beer I drunk during my trip to Denver and Boulder

Bottle - 750mL corked and caged. Clear amber pour. Tall almost fizzy but dense white head leaves a nice sticky gossamer lacing as it fades away. Nose is very herbal, floral and spicy. Lots of earthy and perfumy flowers, herbs, spices, strong yeast, fruit, and grains. Taste is more herbs and spices, strong yeast notes, grains, dried and candied fruits, fresh cut flowers, and sweet malts. Parts of this are candy-like in sweetness while other kick is with slight hop bitterness and an odd herbal flavor. Body is uber-carbonated. Lots of belching from just one glass. Overall and light-medium feel and this seems a tad on the thinner side for a Belgian strong. Finishes with more grains, sweet malt notes, earthy and herbal flavors, flowers, soft hop bitterness, light fruit, and alcohol. Big beer. More a winter type for me. Nonetheless, this was rather delicious.

Draft at The Publick House, Boston. Pours a slightly cloudy straw gold with tight, minimal creamy head. Nose is quite floral and perfumy, but not too strong; some typical fruity esters for a Belgian strong, with a chalky yeast character, herbal hop bitterness and a fair alcoholic kick to the taste. Not bad, just not really particularly unique.

Bottle. What a gusher!! Watch out for this one. Pours a dull colored orange with a huge thick, foamy white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast and spices, light fruits (apple, pear). Flavor is initially quite spicy with some hop bitterness and alcohol, finishes sweet. A bit on the boozy side and not that much flavor.

Bottle. Aroma not very exciting, some apple/apple cider, melon, very mild citrus, pepper, some alcohol, some bready/yeasty character. A touch spicy in the mouth, largely sweet with similar fruity notes, alcohol. Somewhat alcoholic finish. Uninteresting. Not really sure what the point was here.

It’s a dark golden colored beer with a fully lasting head, purely Belgian, it laces well on the glass. Nose of dough and cookie, bready malts, polish and fruit. Smells Belgian, but doesn’t seem to have a lot of refinement. Flavor has a bit too much strength and doesn’t have a lot of delicacy or complexity. Sweet, it possesses heavy notes of light fruits and alcohol. This Belgian misses the mark.

Body is a clear pale yellow and a tall fluffy white head sits on top. The aroma is a bit spicy, flowery, perfumy, and alcoholic. Nice sweet body with a touch of yeasty spice but a lot of astringent alcohol lays down on the palate and is quite distracting. I can’t really get by that, it ruins it for me.
