Bottle: Poured a bright yellow color ale with a nice big pure white foamy head with great retention and some good lacing. Aroma of apricot and peach ester is just incredible and must admit that not many brewery can get this much from their yeast. Taste is very smooth with no signs of alcohol and fruity esters are very well balanced with some sweet Belgian malt. Light floral hops are also noticeable. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no alcohol was discernable. Another winner from a top Belgian brewery that I have some a tendency to forget about.

Had it from Bottle in Belgium and from draft at Cheeky Monk at Denver. From draft it was delicious. Was the only Belgium beer I drunk during my trip to Denver and Boulder

[Eyes] Wonderful deep color, excelent foamy creamy head. [Nuse] Floral malty and hoppy flavor, with notes of caramel and alcohol. [Mouth] Sweet malt, fruit and fresh. Strong and sweet. notes fruit of apple and bananas, a little touch of yeast. i will storage some bottles for the next year.

Sweet, first one to rate this beer! On tap @ Hamilton’s Tavern San Diego. Pours a deep lightly hazed gold with a slight orange hue. I think the best nose of any beer I’ve sampled to date. Aromas of candied fruits and some spice, hard to describe. The 10% is hidden very well, I hope this is still on tap next time I’m at Hamilton’s!!

Bottle from my trusty bottle shop. Absolutely love this stuff. Since they’ve got this in I’ve nailed plenty and spread the word to my heathen mates. Lovely and tasty and gets you very drunk. Fallen pleasantly asleep before 10.00pm which hasn’t happened since I’ve been about ten. Light gold, blonde colour with tiny cheeky little bubbly white head. Got that Gouden Carolus kinda lick to it. Sweet, gorgeous, hard as nails. Don’t know what else to say, I love it.

Draft @ Birreria Paradiso. Pours a surprisingly pale, straw color; creamy white head with excellent retention and fine-bubbled lacing, coating the glass; gorgeous, glistening pour. Very pleasant aroma: esters, some bananas, a thread of citrus throughout; creamy, chewy stuff. Perfect, creamy mouthfeel (albeit with a touch of alcohol creeping through): medium-to-full presence; chewy esters, bananas, soft brown sugar and doughiness; lively carbonation and citrus; impressively dense, tasty stuff and a nice alteration from the intense, dark chewiness of the original; all the flavor without the heaviness. Lengthy finish: lots of breadiness, toasty malts, bananas, and a soft clove presence.

02/11 0.75 l bottle @ Hopdevil pub, Zagreb, shared with Doggythedog. 2008 vintage, of course. It poured slightly murky golden body with medium sized head. Strong and impressive yeasty aroma with banana, orange, tart, a bit of sour apples and hints of other spices like cinnamon. Flavor was pleasantly malty, sweetish caramel and cookies, but also slightly sourish for notable hops. Yeast is obvious as well. However, I must admit it misses some body. Long, slightly sweet cookie and vanilla finish rounds the beer to higher level than my expectations were. Carolus series of Het Anker didn’t disappoint again. Very nice beer, but not nearly as its dark brother. What a big four brews in a row!
