Commercial Description:
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a very large long lasting rocky white head that leaves great lacing. Aroma of spicy, floral, earthy, and fruity hops with sweet pilsner malt and yeast. Taste is banana, a good dose of hops, sweet pilsner malt, and yeast. Medium mouthfeel with spritzy carbonation, well hidden alcohol, moderate bitterness, and a dry spicy finish. Very good.

750mL bottle, courtesy of argo0. Thanks, Aaron! Pours a hazy, honey-golden color; huge, whitish head with excellent retention and lacing that coats the glass. Lots of spicy yeastiness, dry Belgian sugars, and generous amounts of piney / mineral bitterness; nice hoppy Belgian nose. Lively, spritzy carbonation. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of dense yeastiness coupled to the hop character (piney, herbal, minerals); very dry and spicy at the core; exellent example of a spicy, hoppy Belgian ale. Lengthy, dry finish: plenty of lingering yeastiness, Belgian sugars, and mineral / piney bitterness. Excellent.

Bottle. [thank you Skortila/Caesar]
Pours clear golden yellow with a giant, frothy, white head. Small floaties in the liquid. Aroma is quite hoppy, with lots of character from Poperinge hops. Some thick doughy maltiness and light yeast. Dry and wonderful mouthfeel. Flavour is very hoppy, again Poperinge, light yeast. Super balance and freshness.

1st rating! Whoo hoo! Spicy hop aroma it reminds me of houblon chouffe but a little milder, spicy with trace hints of citrus in the nose. Pours slightly cloudy blonde with a huge thick white head, very frothy. The taste starts out bitter, with a lot of spicy hops, very feint hints of citrus, with a lot sweet malt background. A good "hoppy Belgian" ale. Very drinkable!

Hazy golden color with a massive head. Spices, yeast, light banana, some sweet citrus, some hops but not like I was expecting, and light malty grains. mouth feels a bit thin. Flavor is of earthy hops, crisp spices, yeast, fruit, and an overly bitter finish for the hops present in the aroma/flavor. No noticeable alcohol. Rather tasty and refreshing. Went amazingly well with sushi.

ZBF 2008 on the Saturday This was my first beer of ZBF 2008 and turned out to be one of my favourites. Starts off with a great hoppy up frontness to it some sweetness rushes through and also some yeast and creamy vanilla start to show, mmmhh.. I like this. But its the hops that draw me in again and whilst nowher near as hoppy as a Hommelbier for instance, its bloody good and another impressive player in the Het Anker team.

Bottle at Aarhus beerfestival: Pours hazy orange with a large white foam. Grassy, yeasty & peppery with some hops in between. Lively carbonation. Spicy with a good oppy end!
