Commercial Description:
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma.

750 mL bottle from Wine Warehouse. Hazy orange pour with a big, rocky, frothy head. Good retention and nice lacing. Very strong yeast aroma with bready, musky and hoppy notes. A little fruitiness but generally a rather dry aroma. Taste is very dry. The yeast is less noticeable and a pear/green apple fruitiness with a subtle but very bitter hop bite.

Bottle, Belgian Belly. Poured a hazy yellow colour with a medium foamy white head. Yeasty aroma with some fruity hops. Full bodied, smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Gently sweet flavour which is similar to the aroma in characteristics. Lingering bitter finish. A really well crafted and complex brew that has lots to recommend it.

Cloudy yellow with a medium white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, citrus, some noble and/or grassy hops. Taste is mildly hoppy, balanced fairly well with the malt. Belgian yeast, mild sugar, citrus and mild corn. Pretty good.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy light orange/gold with a huge thick, foamy, white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, melon rind, sweet fruits (lemon, orange), and a touch of citrusy hops. Flavor is light and sweet, lots of light fruits with a spicy and bitter hops finish. Full-bodied. This is a tasty beer! This is what a hoppy Belgian should taste like!

Bottle into chalice. Pours a hazy honey blonde, with a huge, dense, pillowy white head. Nose – Some spicy yeast, big grassy hops that tend to recede a bit as the beer warms, hints of pear and apricot. Taste is big and yeasty up front, with notes of pear, with a light, refreshing, grassy hop quality that’s huge when the beer is cool, but recedes noticeably as the beer warms to room temperature. Mouthfeel is creamy and full, with a light body that feels bigger than it is because of the spot-on carbonation.
