Commercial Description:
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma.

750ml Bottle (Bitter Virtue,Southampton) - Golden in colour, Very floral aroma with dry hoppy notes, peach and a biscuity element. Delicious fresh hoppy taste with grapefruit, lemon, tea and rather suprisingly a slight aniseed hint. Excellent.

11.2 oz bottle poured into a Unibroue goblet. Medium gold color with an enormous, billowing white head that shoots an inch over the rim of the glass. Luckily it’s dense enough to keep its shape and not overflow. Outlandish amounts of sticky lacing as it slowly recedes, displaying excellent retention. One of the best appearances I’ve seen on a beer. Aroma is classic strong golden ale, with spicy alcohol, overripe apples, and a touch of banana. Additionally there’s a big dose of noble hops. Flavors of sweet spicy dough, yeast, and stone fruit. The alcohol is fairly apparent on the tongue and in the chest. Very little if any flavor of hops, but their influence is known by the dry finish and tinge of bitterness. Carbonation is predictably high. On one hand, that helps to really stick the flavor to the taste buds, but on the other hand it hurts the drinkability. A very burpy beer, but a pretty good one as well.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Kaisla, Helsinki, on 2008-09-19) Golden. Cloudy. Huge white head that lasts long. Hops, yeast and coriander in fruity nose. Dry full bodied palate with medium carbonation. Hops, grass, coriander, grapefruit, fruitiness, yeast and bitterness in taste. Long lasting bitter and fruity aftertaste.

Bottle thanks to blutt59. Pours a clody gold with great thick head. Has a nice tangy, citris aroma. Flavor has a nice alcohol spice with a little brett, nice citris barnyard taste. Mouthfeel is light body with high carbonation, fizzy.....over all, very enjoyable.....!

Tasted at Ale Atlanta. Very hoppy aroma. Smells a little garlicky (in a good way) like Simcoe, but what do I know, the description says othe hops. Lots of bitterness. Nice.

Pours haxy golden with no head. The nose is hoppy and spicy. The flavor goes a bit sweeter, but is interesingly complex and enjoyable.

Pours hazy golden color with white head. Bready aroma with lots of floral hops. Flavor is mostly bitter hops with almost no sweetness. Medium body with lively carbonation and a crisp, dry finish. A good beer, but I prefer their sweeter, more yeasty brews.
