Commercial Description:
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma.

Thanks to Blake for bringing the 750! Poured hazy medium golden with well-retained, creamy cap of white head.. sticky lacing. The aroma picked up lots of bright noble hops upfront.. juicy pineapple and floral notes led with a soft bready backing.. loved the presentation. The flavor had lemon zest, dry floral, and pineapple bitterness over a pale bitterness that didn’t provide too much.. great spicy tripel-like yeast strain throughout. Medium-plus bodied with a whole lotta carbonation on the palate.. spicy overall and quite enjoyable.

Pale yellow body along with a tall effervescent head that leaves clinging gobs of lace as the head recedes. A doughy aroma comes through with the typical yeast and honey sweetness of the style. A hop note is noticeably missing from the aroma. A bitter hop bite shows itself in the flavor as well as an expected yeasty spice, and tingly body. The dry bitterness persists throughout the body. Flavors of honey, hay, under baked bread, and grapes maybe. Pretty solid and enjoyable but it doesn’t wow me.

Clear golden with huge white head. Sweet yeasty with fruity, mild hops, spices and warming alcohol in the end.

750 ml bottle thanks to willblake. Very hazy bright yellow with a huge fizzy foamy head. Aroma is very spicey, hoppy, slight fruit and bubble gum. Spiced up flavor almost minty. Not bad.

Really a tasty ale, but don’t be distracted by the hop thing. This is another example, I think, of a Belgian brewer wanting to get serious about hops but not quite having the stomach to cut loose and go for it (also see Duvel Tripel Hop). Happier with this result, though. Sampled at ZBF. Pours hazy yellow-gold, white and tightly laced head. Tropical fruit nose with some light hops in the aroma. Flavor is sweet, malty, rolling into a bitter finish and aftertaste. Goes quite dry at the end. Interesting and enjoyable. The Anker site suggests this is a full addition to the Carolus line, not just a one-off. Glad to hear it. OK to tweak, though.

Draught@Akkurat Apoperance: Fizzy yellow with a small and creamy white head. Aroma: Belgian yeast, Spices, Citric notes. Flavor: Citric notes, Caramel, Fresh grain, Spices, Hint of alcohol. Palate: Quite refreshing with a moderate carbonation and pleasant bitterness at the end. A very drinkable belgian IPA that i was fortunate enough to try from draught. Will definitely pick up a few bottles of this to my next trip to belgium.

Hoppy yeasty aroma. Crisp carbonation in the mouth. Massively hoppy taste. Lockets finish - honey and eucalyptus. Hoppy finish - raw sticky hops! Very enjoyable.

33 cl bottle at home. Hazy yellow color, big frothy white head. Arom is fruity with hops, yeast and citrus. Flavor is sweet, fruity, citric, spicy and hoppy. Hints of alcohol. Some honey in the aftertaste. Refreshing. Belgian ale with more hops than normal, interesting and quite nice.
