Commercial Description:
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma.

Bottle, Dulle Griet Ghent. Pours hazy blond with an excellent nice creamy white head, good lacing. Hoppy spicy nose, bananapeel. Fresh hops, herbal. Well balanced flavors. Creamy spritzy palate. Good beer. Lacks some aroma hops.

Pours light honey gold with a huge, chunky off white head that has amazing retention and leaves big, chunky lacing. Aroma is yeasty bread, lots of grass, lime, citrus blossoms, lots of bready yeast, wet limestone and some earthy notes. Flavor is sweet yeasty bread rolls, lemon and lime rinds, black pepper, ginger, some herbal notes and a sweet malt, bell pepper, bitter herbal hop finish. Palate is medium body with a slightly syrupy, slick entry and slightly dry finish. Pretty good stuff, but the flavors just don’t meld quite right.

Pours slightly hazy yellow with a gigantic head, loads of lacing. Aroma of alcohol, yeast, apricots, bread, citrus, a bit funky. The same notes returns in the flavor, along with a long bitter hop bite in the end. It’s quite warming too. Light to medium body, quite sparkly.

cloudy medium gold with very foamy white head. Very zesty (lime, orange) aroma, punctuated with melon rind, light woodsiness. A pleasant hop bouquet. Highly carbonated, quite fizzy, and finishes with some yeasty stickiness. Lots of fruity grain kicking around. Mainly, though, lots of rind and zest flavors, typical of Belgian-style hoppy beer, executed well.

33cl bottle at Mallaskukko, Turku. Slghtly hazy golden, huge fluffy white head. Sweet, sugary aroma with exotic fruity hops, fresh pear, little dishwasher. Flavor has candi sugary Tripel feel, with earth and moderate hops, doesn’t show the alcohol. Bitterness nicely cuts the heavy sweetness. OK, I like the hops in this, though still a bit on the mild side.

Pours hazy golden, huge fluffy white head. Nice clove aroma, sweet candi sugar, orange peel. Very Belgian, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Big citrus bitterness, combined hops and alcohol. Very lemony , kind of overtakes the flavour – but there is some spice in the background and more strongly in the finish.
It is interesting, but perhaps a bit harsh and unbalanced. I like though.
