| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 21, 2008 4 hops: Saaz, Spalt, Tradition, & Golding. Also, named after a 200+ year old puppet. Huh.
Hugely hazed, bright golden color, big head, long-lasting, lace-leaving. Poured into a small Gouden Carolus gold-rimmed glass.
Aroma: bright, beautiful hops, more citrus, lemon, with just a side-oder of cat pee. Creamy, floral, yummy.
It blasts hops on the palate right from the start. Blisteringly bitter, long sizzle on the the tongue. Full-bodied, lush malt. A bright beer, with intense hop flavor. I thought a mere 50 IBUs would result in less hop bitterness than this. I’m happily reassured. Swims brilliantly in the mouth, spreading hoppiness and joy. Snappy. Bold. Refreshing and delicious. Big citric slap.
nice one, Golden Charlie!

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 4, 2009 Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy yellow-golden color with an absolutely enormous yellow-white head. The aroma was sweet, yeasty and fruity with notes of pineapple and fruit cocktail. The flavor was tart, bitter and a bit dry with an undertone of Sweettart candies, light fruity hops, yeast and a touch of funk. Complex and interesting flavor. The finish was long, dry, sour, fruity and a touch spicy. Moderately full bodied. Very nice. pompelmoes (60), Belgium

Hazy amber body with a superb foamy white head. Aroma of resiny hop with bready malt and some fruity perfume. Oily texture with a fine malt based flavor, but after a second the hop comes and rules the whole beer with their own resiny and citrussy character. Strong personality. The beer pours golden yellow with a medium thick and fluffy white head that recedes slowly. Aroma of yeast, grassy hops and spice. Medium body with flavors of yeast, melon, sweet malt and hops. The finish is dry with a banana and clove aftertaste. Pretty good overall. judasbeer (248), Budapest, Hungary
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 18, 2009 Pours cloudy, bright yellow color with orange highlight and a massive fluffy white head that never dissapears. Citrusy and spicy on the nose. Well-rounded spicy, coriander driven mouthfeel with bready malts and rather aromatic hoppy notes. Lasting hoppy finish, but not as robust as the label promises. Hazy, thick body with perfect, discreet carbonation and well-hidden alcohol level. Amazing belgian strong golden. aaronh2012 (11), Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Beeradvocate classified this as a Belgian IPA so I’m a little disappointed. It seems like a nice Belgian Golden Ale but a little lacking in flavor. I think I was expecting it to be something it isn’t. It’s not bad for a Belgian Blonde Ale. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 30, 2009 Bottle. Nose has a dry, cellary yeast and dry, grassy hop profile - indisputably Belgian. Deep golden pour with a seemingly endless head of cream, minuscule, dense bubbles and froth. Taste is bone dry, a touch of warming alcohol under full pale malts with medium hinterspice. Touch of sourness under the herbal tones, controlled low bitterness, some nice peppery punch and rounding phenols. Very similar to my first homebrewed Belgian IPA, with less caramel and denser. swirling hop complexity, and a bit of brighter citrus spark soaring in the upper reaches of the hop stratosphere. Actually, alcohol is rather hidden for 8%. Very enjoyable, a nice showcase of noble hops in an often overlooked utilization. austone (1039), Turku; Pori, Finland
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2009 33cl bottle at Mallaskukko, Turku. Slghtly hazy golden, huge fluffy white head. Sweet, sugary aroma with exotic fruity hops, fresh pear, little dishwasher. Flavor has candi sugary Tripel feel, with earth and moderate hops, doesn’t show the alcohol. Bitterness nicely cuts the heavy sweetness. OK, I like the hops in this, though still a bit on the mild side.
