Commercial Description:
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma.

Looks great. Aroma? Yep, just spot on. The classic Belgian ’hoppy’ aroma, in a very warm and round way, almost sweaty. It’s been a while since I’ve had a beer like this and it reminded me I need to drink them a LOT more. Great pils malt flavour - rich and supple and round - with nicely poised phenols and polystyrene hops. Fairly assertive bitterness for the style, nice alcohol warmth. Comes off as a slightly more rich, warm, open version of Hommelbier. Beautiful. How come Anker’s beers all taste better in Australia than in the brewery’s taproom?

Pale malt sweetness and robust continental hoppiness with some really surprisngly fruity and spicy Belgian yeast esters. This beer hides it’s big abv pretty well. Very nicely done.

Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy yellow-golden color with an absolutely enormous yellow-white head. The aroma was sweet, yeasty and fruity with notes of pineapple and fruit cocktail. The flavor was tart, bitter and a bit dry with an undertone of Sweettart candies, light fruity hops, yeast and a touch of funk. Complex and interesting flavor. The finish was long, dry, sour, fruity and a touch spicy. Moderately full bodied. Very nice.

Hazygolden colour with big white head on top. Soft aroma of cake and bread, some yeast and a fine kick of floral hops. Taste is mild, with some touches pepper, yeast and refined hops.

Hazy amber body with a superb foamy white head. Aroma of resiny hop with bready malt and some fruity perfume. Oily texture with a fine malt based flavor, but after a second the hop comes and rules the whole beer with their own resiny and citrussy character. Strong personality.

Sample at Cheeky Monk in Denver. The beer pours golden yellow with a medium thick and fluffy white head that recedes slowly. Aroma of yeast, grassy hops and spice. Medium body with flavors of yeast, melon, sweet malt and hops. The finish is dry with a banana and clove aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Pours cloudy, bright yellow color with orange highlight and a massive fluffy white head that never dissapears. Citrusy and spicy on the nose. Well-rounded spicy, coriander driven mouthfeel with bready malts and rather aromatic hoppy notes. Lasting hoppy finish, but not as robust as the label promises. Hazy, thick body with perfect, discreet carbonation and well-hidden alcohol level. Amazing belgian strong golden.

Beeradvocate classified this as a Belgian IPA so I’m a little disappointed. It seems like a nice Belgian Golden Ale but a little lacking in flavor. I think I was expecting it to be something it isn’t. It’s not bad for a Belgian Blonde Ale.
