Aroma is fruity, caramel malt, with some yeast and spices. Flavor is sweet (almost sugar) and malty, with fruit, spices, some alcohol, hops and fine bitterness in the finish. Typical Belgian, and therefor a lovely strong beer. Some will say it´s too sweet; well, I like it that way.

Nose of licorice, sweet fruits and light malts. At first, the flavor was ALL licorice. Sweet, sweet licorice. After a few sips, My palette had adjusted to the intense licorice and I caught some nice, sweet malt notes and some dark fruits. Medium in body and lightly carbonated. Kind of sticky and syrup-like. Pretty good overall. danielyabu (293), União da Vitória, Brazil

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2009 Bottle, 33 cl. Dark brown beer with a little beige head. Typical sweet and malty smell, also light fruity and light spicy. The taste is nice malty, sweet and light spicy. espite the high alcohol percentage (10,5%), this is a very easy drinking beer and the alcohol is hidden very well. Overal lacking a bit in pallet and a typical Christmas beer, but one of the better Christmas beers anyway. Quack-Duck (3291), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany

Deep brown colour with a small, but persistant beige head. Aroma of dried fruit and alpine herbs. Full-bodied, intensively malty with lots of raisins, plums, dried fruit, nuts and herbs and spices (reminding me of a certain Swiss candy). Very complex and deep. A beer to enjoy and savour slowly on a cold and snowy winter evening. beerbill (1973), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 19, 2009 750 ml bottle. Pours a mostly clear chestnut with a moderate light amber head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left bits of lace. Very pleasant aroma of sweet malt, licorice, raisins and alcohol. The flavor begins with a solid dose of sweet malt. This is followed by a raisin flavor that tastes like they have been macerated in brandy. A strong licorice flavor then emerges bringing all of this to a conclusion. A bit boozey at the finish as well. Medium bodied. Very tasty! Suttree (2740), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
