kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 7, 2008 75cl bottle from Beer World Largo (Florida). Pours a cloudy honey amber (golden orange) with a thick white head that provides ample lacing on the glass. Aroma is spicy with notes of citrus, bread, yeast, lemon zest, and fresh spice. Medium to full bodied with noteworthy carbonation. Flavor is sweet honey, spice, and fresh flowers with a slightly bitter finish. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England Jun 1, 2008 Cask at the Rake with Reakt, 9th April 2008. This is a cracking tripel - it doesn’t do anything unexpected, it simply does the style very well. Cloudy orange colour, honey aroma and a perfect balance of honey, wheat and hops in the taste, accentuated by some fruit hints. The palate is perfect, the beer feeling soft on the tongue and the taste lingering for you to enjoy. kawasugi (1), Los Angeles, California, USA does not count May 31, 2008 bouquet is floral but not the best of the upper echelon triples from Belgium. Slightly foamy when it hits your tongue but you are rewarded with a refreshing hoppy, sour chewiness of a Triple. It’s a 9% beer with smooth character but I would not pay $4.50 again for an 11.2 ouncer, I prefer some of the American Microbrew triples to this Belgian. charcot25 (181), Cordova, Tennessee, USA May 31, 2008 Great triple. Has a bright golden body with giant white, fluffy head. Leaves a wonderful lacing in the glass. Spicy and mildy fruity aroma and taste. Well attenuated. Goes down a little too well if you know what I mean. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 31, 2008 Pale golden, lightly hazy with a very thick creamy/fluffy white head. Truly beautiful-looking beer. Aroma is quite fresh, light malt, crisp bright spiciness. Light clove, apricot and lovely yeasty spiciness. A bit of mint and soft yeastiness. The flavour is just so well-balanced. A light wheaty/bready malt base, but it is still deliciously dry. Flavour is spicy and lightly fruity. Very delicate with a lingering mint/herb hoppiness on the back. Finishes very crisp and dry. Awesome. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA May 22, 2008 Bottle at some Beer Hall in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Hazy lively golden pour with a huge & frothy white head. Nicely aromatic with Belgian yeast esters. Some herbal notes, mild bubblegum (without being sweet), honey, dates and very subtle lemon peel. Nice aroma. The body has a dense and creamy carbonation, that’s actually a bit too lively at first, then it settles down nicely. The flavor has a solid Belgian malt base, making it a bit honeyish overall, along with mild lemon peel, smooth peppery alcohol and an herbal Belgian hop bitter finish. Not the most complex, but definitely solid. MatSciGuy (627), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA May 20, 2008 100th rating! [Bottle] Poured hazy gold with a large whiteish head. Aroma is spicy and sweet, with lots of bready yeast. Flavor is very nice. Typical belgian yeastiness. Perfect amount of spices and carbonation. Very light mouthfeel, and pretty much no alcohol detected. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 16, 2008 Updated: May 17, 2008330 ml. Cloudy, orange-amber with a large meringue head that leaves sheets of lacing. Aroma is rich fruitcake (with icing). Flavor is similar: dense brandy-rum cake with raisins, lemon, apples, and dates. Nice balance from subtle earthy notes of sourish leather and woody herbs. Well-blended balance of big flavors; the richness pitted against the dryness of the yeast, hops, and alcohol. Medium body is mostly smooth and dry.
