CapedBrewsader (260), Brasschaat, Belgium Mar 12, 2008 33cl. bottle: Lightly hazy light amber with an orange core. Nice creamy off-white head that starts out above average but dies down to a film rather quickly. Powerful aromas of bready malt and grain. Banana bread and some toasted marshmallow come just behind the malt. Definite toffee and caramel continue the sweetness while the alcohol sneaks in behind then surprises you. Flavors are quite deep and complex (especially compared against all the ho hum tripels that have flooded the market). Malt, dark brown sugar start up front and roll back on your tongue while fading through and dark, almost burnt, caramel. Further back some apple and a bit of "green" harshness that can be best described as green tree bark. Toasted marshmallow shows up in the flavor as well. Perhaps just a slight cardboard in the back but it doesn’t distract you. If anything it adds a certain level of depth. There is some grilled fruits in the back, or perhaps fruit marmalade cooked in a pan. Nicely balanced tripel and the alcohol is well hidden. pumpmaster (473), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA Mar 9, 2008 11.2 ounce bottle purchased al Case & Keg Boca Raton, FL for $4.00 Very good beerledgend (919), Meadowbank Auckland, New Zealand Mar 9, 2008 Hazy pale orange colour with huge white head. Clove and spicey mouthfeel which hides the alcohol.
Very pleasant. smith4498 (822), Miami, Florida, USA Mar 9, 2008 Pours a golden yellow color with big off white head. Aromas of bananas, yeast, malt. Flavor is fruity with hints of yeast and spice. Medium body with a creamy texture and lively carbonation. This is one of my favorite tripels. Excellent! Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Mar 7, 2008 Big bottle pours hazed pale oak veneer color with a proud head that takes time to die off leaving very little lace. The aroma has strong malts, yeast, citrus/banana fruits, and floral. The flavor is fruity, yeasty, spicy, malty, kind of dry, and some faint bitterness. The palate consists of refreshing and cleansing carbonation infused in a medium bodied feel. The finish is rather quick and dry. This is one of the better Triples I’ve had in some time. Post script - as usual with my ratings of Belgians, the yeast pour and temperature make things much more interesting! Oh, and I broke out some Tillamook cheddar to accompany and it works well! Ober (1161), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Mar 4, 2008 A beautiful dark golden colored beer, with a very large white thick foamy head. A lot of aroma’s, a combination of caramel, fruits, like raisins. Also light spicy. A rich taste of banana, pine, honey and malt. It’s complex and balanced. A beer to enjoy on a nice summer day. daniele (1642), Italy Mar 3, 2008 alla spina chiara schiuma non abbondante abbastanza persistente sentori fruttari frutta sciroppata ananas buccia d’aracia mara miele d’acacia coriandolo Collint (452), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Feb 29, 2008 Bottle, pours a golden yellow haze with a huge head.
